Hey thanks Zensal for the GHz...
Do you advise me to do some more OCing on stock cooling or it will be useless time and efforts?
NB: just ran Crysis with below for 3 hours, it did great!
- 1920x1080
- Very high for all details
- 8x for AA
It is the first time I OC and here are the results:
1- FSB from 200 to 260
2- RAM from 800 5-5-5-15-2T to 867 4-4-4-12-1T
3- CPU from 3Gb to 3.65Gb
4- GPU from Core clock = 750MHz and Memory clock = 900MHz to 781 and 960
All on standard stock cooling (didn't add any air or water)...
Thanks for the link... Very interesting for C2D owners but didn't find answers for my questions:
1- Can I oc my ram to 1066
2- if yes shall I increase my fsb from 200 to 400??
It is my first OC and I am lost:
Red that the Bus speed is the same for both RAM and CPU:
http://benchmarkreviews.com/in...8&limit=1&limitstart=4
If so my CPU has a Bus speed of 200 and a multiplier of 15 (stock config), does it mean that my RAMs are running at 200 x 2 (DDR2) = 400 Mhz...
Fortunately enough, called them and they did not argue at all, after checking my recipt's reference they told me to send it back by courier and they will replace it with no time frame to proceed....
I ment by spec: on the box, it was witten Phenom II X4 940 BE and under that Quad core 3.0GHz....All related to the right cpu: but inside I found a 9950!
What happend to me is terrible.
I went to a shop in the States and bought boxed items as follow:
CPU: AMD Phenom II 940
MB: Gigabyte GA-MA790GP UD4H
RAM: OCZ 2X2 DDR2 800 TITANIUM
GPU: DIAMOND HD 4870 1GB
PSU: OCZTEH 750W QUAD ATX
SATA: SEAGATE BARRACUDA 1TB 7200
SOUND: CREATIVE X-FI...
Thanks Shmide, so no need to do anything to the buit in GPU I just plug the new one without any affect on its performance; Is it the same for the sound card?
Sorry, for the psu I entered 4 cores instead of one: anyway I am putting all the things together now and just red the the GPU would need 750W (written in the manual).
I need to disable the GPU (Built in) in my 790gp as the manual of the diamond 4870 is telling to do that but couldn't find how to...
Hey guys just changed in my ring the following based on your recommendations:
1- Sound card: Creative SB X-FI Xtreme Audio P (54.99$) changed into Creative Xtreme Gamer (99.9$)
2- Ram PNY Memory XLR8 performance edition DDR2 1066 MHz 5-5-5-15 2.1 V 4Gb (94.99$) changed into OCZ Titanium...
Million thanks to you SickBeast your site helped a lot, it gave me the following recommended PSU:
Recommended PSU Wattage: 710W
In regards to the Ram and SOUND CARD, the pic is not clear yet: Shall I keep or return as today is my last chance to do so.(Will leave the States tomorrow)
the samsung would cost me additional 55$.
In regards to the sound card, I think it wasn't a good deal but would still be better than the 889 realteck with a 5.1 creative speakers I bought what do you think?
how can I calculate the exact psu power I would need? as I would definitly prefered to get the 500 W and put my money in something else but noone advised me to do so until you posted it.
Thanks for all of you guys really apreciate it.
In fact I may consider changing the Ram. when I bought them I had in my mind the OCing and these are among the best overclockable ones, that's why I spent the money on them.
Will mainly play games, surf on the net and do some picture editing...
Wow over my expectations, planning to go for a 3.7 or 3.8 by only changing voltage and multiplayer.
I was lost with all the possibilities/competition and price variation from 80 $ Biostar TA 790 GX to 190 $ for Asus M4A79... I think the DFI is midrange and seems very encouraging based on your...
Many thanks for the clarification really apreciate it.
If you were in my shoe which would you pick and why:
Does the Asus worth the extra money?
PS: Will not crossfire but will do little OCing for the phenom II 940 (up to 3.6/3.7)
GA-MA790X-UD4P (110$)
DFI LP DK 790FXB-M2RSH (117$)...
Could anyone explain to me the difference between North bridge AMD 790 FX (GA-MA790FX-UD5P) and 790X (GA-MA790X-UD4P).
The difference between upper 2 mobos is 60 $ is it worth it?
Thanks for your input
Have a phenom II 940 BE with plan to lightly (3.6) OC.
Would spend around 130 $ on a mobo with following: NB AMD 790 and SB AMD SB750
(have red a lot about asus M4a79 deluxe but overbudget for me)
What do you advise for the gaming ring I am building?
Shall I get a mobo with realtek ALC...
Ok so let me rephrase:
I increase the voltage through bios by 0.025V and then go to CPU clock ratio and change it to x18.
The above steps would be done after putting all the system together and first turn on.
Shall I also change the fan speed or the Ram speed (1033 Mhz) and how, what...

Thanks, think would go same like you; was targetting 3.4 and here you are 3.6 even better !!!
Please could you indicate what to do and how as it will be my first experience with OCing?
Hungry for info and details
Thanks for your reply already the picture is clearer; will the onboard video be an issue as I have a 4870 1 Gb?
I think would go for mobo= Asus M3A78-T for 92 US$ and 2x2 Mb of DDR2 1066
Planning to OC up to 3.4 Ghz any specific cooling fan to buy (please specify) and kindly advise on the...
Was planning to buy next week a c2d 8500 but after some readings switched to Phenom II 940 for better gaming and same price 189.99 $
Below are two mobos I found:
1- Gigabyte GA-MA790GP supports DDR2 @ 1200Mhz price=129.9$
2- Gigabyte GA-MA790X supports DDR2@1333Mhz price=109.9$
Does the...
