Looking for upgrade from a Zenfone 2.

A look into APU graphics performance in modern games.

I personally, with an A10-7850K, 8 GB of DDR3-1866 SDRAM, and 240 GB Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD, get 30 FPS at 720p standard settings in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. It's about to be retired, though, since I got a Xeon E5-2670 and a Radeon R9 Nano to play around with. Just need to buy an X79...

AMD Official Statement - Polaris is NOT delayed

I'm really hoping a Polaris card blows my Nano out of the water. But then again, I don't wanna spend $300 on a new card when I got to get my new rig up and running... my Nano is fast enough for what I need it for.

Upgrading from i5 2500k

I would say the i5 2500K and the i7 2600K, both overclocked moderately, say, 4.5 GHz, are the benchmarks to go by. If you can't get much of an improvement out of an i7 6700K, it's not worth upgrading. Might as well wait.

I'd go with one Xeon E5-2670 aforementioned earlier, as I'm in the process of going down that route. Albeit, I'm going with a beefier GPU. Scour AnandTech For Sale or OCN For Sale threads for an X79 board. You can find good deals there. Lets say you get one for $150. $70 gets you 16 GB of DDR3...

Are you buying a GTX 1070/1080?

Gotta agree with this, though I would fire sale their current inventory of 390/390X and Fury parts, and write it off as a loss. Like AMD has been losing money, but you might as well lose less money.

Whenever I had a problem with a Gigabyte board, or with any board, it was because I broke it. All my boards have been flawless, excluding one, which is obviously the broken one.

Opinions wanted on best motherboard manufacturer

I prefer ASUS and Gigabyte, but since I'm going with a Xeon E5-2670 in August, then a E5-2690 v4 in 2020, I gotta find a new mobo manufacturer that supports those processors.

How fast do you think GeForce GTX 1070 will be?

A 1070 should be bottlenecked by it's memory bandwidth... based on the specs given. Unless NVIDIA has improved their compression algorithms, I doubt there will be an improvement over a 980 Ti...

Best Motherboard for 8350 cpu

GPU enthusiasts, how much are you actually willing to spend?

I limit myself to $750 maximum for a GPU. The three most expensive GPUs I bought were the 7970 at launch ($550), the 290X during the BTC boom ($700), and the Nano ($520). I limit myself to only one beefy GPU cause my 3x 7970 setup had massive problems.

Should I sell my card now or keep mining and wait a few weeks?

Um, my honest advice is to take that offer now... you won't get $280 when the 1070 drops. And as more people jump on the Ethereum train, mining revenue will decrease. If all else fails, you could buy that 390 again for cheaper once Polaris 10 drops.

How Many Years Do You Expect To Use a Card(s) in Your Main Rig?

Lately, I've upgraded more often than once a year... 7970, 3x 7970, 290X, Nano, all in the past year or two. I voted one to two years though, as my next GPU will be Vega or Navi based... or the NVIDIA equivalent.

Anybody else unimpressed with new midrange Nvidia GPUs, and much higher MSRP?

I love Atom-based phones, such as the Zenfone 2... so much so that I have one. My grandma has an Atom-based tablet, which works for her. I have heard that the Intel Atom is effectively a Cortex-A53 in IPC... is that true?

I pounced on one of these CPUs at $67 a while ago. I still have not built the tower based on the E5-2670, yet... but will this processor bottleneck a Radeon R9 Nano? And will the E5-2670 be better than an A10-7850K in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward? Also, anyone think this will occur again...

Are you buying a GTX 1070/1080?

I guess I'm waiting for Vega 10 or Vega 11, whatever the flagship is. I'm currently sitting on a Radeon R9 Nano, and the games I plan to play are Battlefield 1, Civilization VI, Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, and... well, that's about it. Hopefully the Nano can hold on til 2017.

I just upgraded to the 4890 from a 7900GT.

IGP -> A VIA IGP -> Radeon Xpress 200 -> Radeon HD 4890. My best upgrade was my move from a Radeon Xpress 200 to a Radeon HD 4890. It ended my sidestepping with OEM boxes. Basically, games went from being basically a pile of scrap metal to a Boeing 787 in my last upgrade. My worst upgrades were...

4890 OC Help

I'm fairly sure it can run at 1 GHz/1125 MHz at 1.425V. Now knowing that my Radeon HD 4890 can run at 1 GHz, I'm happy. However, I'm not going to leave it like that in the scenario that I forget something or do something wrong and it blows up. No one wants a dead card thats their own fault or...

4890 OC Help

Going to test at 1000 MHz core/1100 MHz memory at 1.4125V now. Started at 1:08 PM and first error at 1:17 PM. Same OC at 1.425V. Started 1:40 PM, backed off at 1:44 PM due to 90 degree Celsius VRM temps. I might have to try something different. Maybe start off at 1.35 and test.
