Worried about i7 heat.

An apologi is needed without question. A gentleman would have done that in a flash and it would not have made him less of a man. This is the internet? What does that mean - that good behaviour is not needed......

What is your memory multiplier, Cas timings, Uncore frequenzy, QPI, Memory voltage? Have you ever manually set the cas memory timings in BIOS? You need to list all this in order for anyone to help you because I have a felling you are not familar with what settings is needed for you to get...

I thought it was the other way around with QPI and Vcore? Still I think it is an Uncore/memory multiplier/QPI/ memory voltage issue. Still it would be hard to tell unless he posts his settings for all this and what RAM he uses.

i7 920 DRAM Voltage Question

It has a sensor all right, but I just remembered that maybe the trial version is not showing you the DIMM value? I would think that it would say DIMM (TRIAL) if that is the case. Look under Computer/Sensor and then under Voltage values.

I have read a lot of Toms` articles and I have no issues with the general standard of their work, but many people reading articles will skip to the graphs part and not bother to read the details. But remember the graph shows peak power and not average use. Peak in 417W is double the 217W...

Upgrade to D0?

Toms´ upped the voltage to the extreme. 1.5V in Vcore and QPI at 1.5 would never be needed at all. I can run 200x20 with turbo on with my CO at 1.376 and even 1.360 Why they used those voltages was only to show a dramatically effect in the graphs.

To Shmee Are you sure it is your CPU chip that is the cause to your "low" overclock? I have a C0 and it can do 205x20 with turbo on = 4.3 GHz. I think my Mugen 2 CPU cooler is somewhat similar in performance like yours. You sure it is not your memory that prevents you from booting? What...

Motherboard for i7 OC'ing

I have a i7 920 C0/C1 and a X-58 UD4P with a Scythe Mugen 2 Cpu cooler, and I am able to play games with 205x20 and turbo enabled. That is 4.3 GHz on air with a C0/C1 chip. I even have some bad 1333 MHz Ram that is able to overclock to 1640 MHz, that is a 300 MHz overclock - sweet...
