Best Videocard of All Time

For me it would have to be the Geforce 256 DDR, it seemed to revolutionize the market. And, in my eyes, it was the start of the end for 3dfx.

Thanks Fardringle, i will try and see if the second part works. Another question for you is there a way to create a domain on xp without going to 2003 server edition? A domain under a workgroup?

I must of not made my point clear. We have servers thoughout the building, but the building is a group of different contractors working on the same type of task and all use the same intranet. The network is shared, but our little group wants a better way of backing up then over dvds or tape...

Dell 2001fp or Dell 2005fpw

I just got the 2005 in today at my job, now everyone has monitor envy. This thing is nice but I have only used the 2001 on rare occasions. So far I really enjoy this monitor, but i am also using a dell d800 with a 15.4 widescreen.

I just got a nice little workstation(windows xp pro sp2) that we are using for a backup server for about 7 computers. The problem is that we have about 200 computers on the network and all the machines see each other. How do we set up the servers share settings so each of the 7 have a folder...

What video card should I buy for new system

Edit, sorry triggered response. Any photoshop or cad? If only internet and aps like word, etc. then any card you choose even a geforce 3, rad 8500, or a matrox would work. Are you looking for any specific feature such as dual dvi, tv in/out?

Can you help me understand these 9600 specs?

9600np is the same as the 9600; for some reason people put that to indicate that its regular, they also use other terms for some cards like vanilla.

XP only allows one burner to be enabled at a time.

I am not sure if this applies to you, but I was having similar problems after the installation of sp2, after I updated my software and on one drive my firmware, both worked.

Memory conflict

My motherboard auto detects and even with manual and highest cas settings it still does it. And voltage doesn't change anything as well. But thanks for the input so far.

Cheap Motherboard For Socket 754

I am in the same boat looking for a good 754 mobo that isn't to high. I have been looking at the soltek sl-k8an2e-gr for around 89 us, but i haven't had any experience with them.

Do you still have any of your old school video cards that you paid top dollar for when they were new?

I still have my tnt 16mb and voodoo 2 card, i sold my geforce 256 ddr to a friend for 45; bought it for 275, still have my radion 8500 ( I don't think 15 dollars is enough to get rid of a good back up card i paid 200 for).

I cant find my video card

As said before, you don't need to add hardware, its there. Just right click on my computer, click properties, hardware, device manager, display adapters, under that it should have either your card name or vga adapter. either way you can right click and update driver or install new drivers.

You got a great rig but you want to put a cheap monitor on it? I am sorry I am all about saving money but If i had a rig like yours I would want atleast a lcd with dvi. But to answer your question the 710N out of the two.

All asus says is that it has a voice report on the problem, that tells you specifics no beeps, is the beep long or just beep and stops? The video card might be the problem, if it is a old card with a higher agp power need, your board only supports 1.5 volts

Problem with CS 1.6 and other games on Ati 9500pro by saphire

The first thing is take everything back to normal clock speeds, mainly your cpu, video card, and ram. You don't list if you oc your gpu, or ram, but that is where I would start. Depending on your overclocking of your cpu you could be upping the freq on your agp slot.

Transferring Files

as Sideswipe said if you do it over lan, you need a cross over cable(about 6 dollars) or a lan hub(15?), router. If you do it over usb you need a usb trasfer cable, which is about 50 bucks. I don't know about firewire. Or you can go old school and do it over one of your com ports.
