[Digital Trends] Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti Graphics Cards Are Dying in Alarming Numbers

I just got a 2080 Ti Strix from Amazon, worked perfectly the first day and started showing space invaders artifacts in Crysis 3 & Witcher 3 the next day. Also the card has Micron memory and is a non-A chip (going by the device ID). I don't think I'll try another, might just go back to my Vega...

    News AMD Announces Radeon VII

Kinda interested in this card. I don't care about RTX features, they seem to be mostly unusable at higher resolutions at this time. It'll also be bundled with one of the games I'm interested in (DmC 5) so that's a plus too. Also still seems a lot of people are experiencing RTX card failures. Of...

AMD 2990WX 32 core 64 thread Builders thread Pics starting build !

First time was a few months ago, I don't think they were fully aware of the problem back then. I did another RMA last week and just got the replacement in. Enermax did tell me this one is supposed to be free of any issues. I have not tested it though, since they sent me a brand new unit I...

    Threadripper BUILDERS thread

I wish you the best and hope you will beat it. I was able to install ESXi on my Zenith. For the most part, GPU passthrough worked fine on it, the only issue I found was that restarting the VM would break passthrough. Had to do a full reboot of the host machine any time I restarted the VM to...

    Threadripper BUILDERS thread

Are there any comparison of the Enermax 360 vs the Noctua NH-U14S? Seen a few comparisons of the 240, but not the 360. I'm just curious how much of an improvement it will be. I have the Noctua right now and have been happy with it, but just ordered the Enermax 360. Mainly because I wanted to...

Just got everything setup :) Had issues with my RAM though... (4x16GB Corsair Vengeance @ 3000 MHz). I've heard Corsair RAM is not the best to use with Ryzen but I had it from my prior build. Doesn't seem to want to boot at 3000 MHz. It's of course fine at the default (2133). I'll have to try...

AMD Vega (FE and RX) Benchmarks [Updated Aug 10 - RX Vega 64 Unboxing]

Getting the bundled components is entirely optional I think, you have to buy them along with the video card if you want to take advantage of the deal though. That's my understanding anyway.

    Ethereum GPU mining?

I'm very curious how Vega mines. Maybe this has been posted here before but I found that the Nvidia P100, which also uses HBM2, does around 69 MH/s: https://www.reddit.com/r/EtherMining/comments/66f2dz/nvidia_tesla_p100sxm2_x4_mining/ Guess we will find out soon with the FE cards releasing...

    Ethereum GPU mining?

Still hanging on to the ETH I bought at $7. This has been the best investment I ever made :D Dunno, but I have a feeling ETH is going to surpass Bitcoin's market cap sometime this year. I don't think Bitcoin is going anywhere, it won't crash but I can see ETH becoming the more valuable coin.

Who's buying Skylake-X? (You may now change your vote)

If I was in the market I'd probably get it. My X99 rig still handles everything I throw at it though. Probably won't upgrade for a long time. I was on X58 before and I have feeling this platform is going to last me even longer.

    Dell 30" 120Hz 4k OLED display...

Though it's really cool that this is the first OLED monitor, it seems a bit half baked. Also lacks HDR. I feel like Dell rushed it out of the door just to say it wasn't vaporware after all this time. Hopefully we get a second revision next year with HDR and 120 Hz. I'll be in then.

Highly impressed by NVidia's reference cooler!

I had a 2016 Titan XP and the reference cooler was garbage. Incredibly loud. It was quieter than reference R290X's but that isn't saying much. I could deal with it assuming I had my headphones on but playing with surround setup I could hear the fans and it was annoying. Seems they have made...

Geforce GTX 1080 Ti now official - Faster than Titan X ($699)

Huh? No, Nvidia CEO said the reference 1080 Ti is faster than Titan X. The custom variants will just be even faster than the reference, thus even a bigger jump over Titan X.

Geforce GTX 1080 Ti now official - Faster than Titan X ($699)

The NV CEO straight up said it was faster than Titan X. My guess is the extra ROPs makes a negligible difference in performance in most workloads. The memory is clocked higher out of the box on the 1080 Ti as well. 11 GHz now versus 10 GHz on the TXP.

Geforce GTX 1080 Ti now official - Faster than Titan X ($699)

CUDA core count is actually same as Titan X though. At same clocks performance will likely be almost identical. I highly doubt the memory bus and ROP differential will impact performance that much.

LG 38" Curved 3840x1600 Ultrawide FreeSync

Got one of these recently. Given how wide this monitor is, I think the curve helps a lot with being able to see the sides better. Also the curve radius is more aggressive than on the X34 and PG348Q. Very happy with the 75 Hz. I notice a big difference from 60 to 75. Had a 100 Hz X34 before and...

    Can IPS matrix cause nausea?

The only thing I can think of is that maybe he has the "1ms blur reduction" option enabled, that turns on backlight strobing. Although, you can't turn it on at all when running at 60 Hz, only 75Hz The 38UC99 is definitely PWM-free. I'm sensitive to PWM myself.

    ZCash/ZEC GPU mining

Market is siding with XMR as the darknet coin leader IMO. Zcash will continue to drop, maybe a few bull traps here and there but I expect it'll fall into the low double digits $ wise. Funny thing is XMR had next to no marketing. All the Zcash hype is making people look at other coins, and...

    ZCash/ZEC GPU mining

ZEC will continue to fall, at least in BTC ratio. There's no way it'll continue to be worth 0.5 per coin when the amount of coins mined per day keeps going up. I don't think anyone is buying it as a long term hold... rather just to profit off the volatility.

Value Proposition of Pascal Titan X

It will hinge on the sales of this new Titan as well. Remains to be seen how the $1200 price point goes over with people. There's a big gap between 1080 and this card, and if this one doesn't sell as well it would make sense for them to slot in say a $800-900 Ti card before AMD responds. It's...

    New Pascal Titan X!

Makes sense to me. There is a reason why this launch is pretty low key compared to past Titans and they aren't giving it a new name, imo. Honestly, a bit surprised to see them releasing the Titan this early. 1080s are still hard to find and they could have waited another month or two until supply met demand. I now use a 4K OLED (55" C6) as my primary gaming display. Next monitor will be OLED as well, not bothering with LCD anymore. The PQ difference is just staggering. $5k for the Dell is insane though as my C6 cost half that ($2500)

DPC latency with Geforce 10x0 series?

Popped in the 1080 about a month ago and used to have a 980 Ti, haven't noticed any anomalies personally. Geforce GTX 1060 Thread: faster than RX 480, 120W, $249

It doesn't change the capacity, but isn't the data stored compressed? So technically you can fit more effective data. Assuming compression gains of 10-15% it would be pretty close to the 970's 3.5 GB.

Geforce GTX 1060 Thread: faster than RX 480, 120W, $249

My guess is 1060 will be around 5-10% faster than RX 480 Tbh, 3GB VRAM shouldn't matter much at 1080P which is presumably the target res for this card, with Pascal's memory compression gains it's going to be similar to 3.5GB 970 I'm expecting a higher price, but if Nvidia wants to completely...

    Why haven't 980ti prices droppedmore ?

Heh, so much for some people saying prices wouldn't drop. Exactly why I didn't recommend biting on used Tis for around $400. Anyway, that's a fair price for a new 980 Ti. Makes the current $420+ 1070 offerings overpriced. Great buy if you want something to tide you over until the 1080 Ti.
