Getting the bundled components is entirely optional I think, you have to buy them along with the video card if you want to take advantage of the deal though. That's my understanding anyway.

Ethereum GPU mining?

Still hanging on to the ETH I bought at $7. This has been the best investment I ever made :D Dunno, but I have a feeling ETH is going to surpass Bitcoin's market cap sometime this year. I don't think Bitcoin is going anywhere, it won't crash but I can see ETH becoming the more valuable coin.

If I was in the market I'd probably get it. My X99 rig still handles everything I throw at it though. Probably won't upgrade for a long time. I was on X58 before and I have feeling this platform is going to last me even longer.

Dell 30" 120Hz 4k OLED display...

Though it's really cool that this is the first OLED monitor, it seems a bit half baked. Also lacks HDR. I feel like Dell rushed it out of the door just to say it wasn't vaporware after all this time. Hopefully we get a second revision next year with HDR and 120 Hz. I'll be in then.

Highly impressed by NVidia's reference cooler!

Huh? No, Nvidia CEO said the reference 1080 Ti is faster than Titan X. The custom variants will just be even faster than the reference, thus even a bigger jump over Titan X.

The NV CEO straight up said it was faster than Titan X. My guess is the extra ROPs makes a negligible difference in performance in most workloads. The memory is clocked higher out of the box on the 1080 Ti as well. 11 GHz now versus 10 GHz on the TXP.

CUDA core count is actually same as Titan X though. At same clocks performance will likely be almost identical. I highly doubt the memory bus and ROP differential will impact performance that much.

Can IPS matrix cause nausea?

The only thing I can think of is that maybe he has the "1ms blur reduction" option enabled, that turns on backlight strobing. Although, you can't turn it on at all when running at 60 Hz, only 75Hz The 38UC99 is definitely PWM-free. I'm sensitive to PWM myself.

ZEC will continue to fall, at least in BTC ratio. There's no way it'll continue to be worth 0.5 per coin when the amount of coins mined per day keeps going up. I don't think anyone is buying it as a long term hold... rather just to profit off the volatility.

Mine hits 2050 MHz when fan is cranked to 100%. Going to just leave it at stock for now until I get this on water. Very happy with the OC performance though, did not expect it to clock this high.

DP 1.4 OUT (5 months ago): 4K 144HZ Monitors are coming - Are you going to Upgrade ??

I now use a 4K OLED (55" C6) as my primary gaming display. Next monitor will be OLED as well, not bothering with LCD anymore. The PQ difference is just staggering. $5k for the Dell is insane though as my C6 cost half that ($2500)

DPC latency with Geforce 10x0 series?

Popped in the 1080 about a month ago and used to have a 980 Ti, haven't noticed any anomalies personally. This is my work rig, I usually have multiple VMs open that tax the system pretty hard (not the GPU though, it's at idle usually). Haven't had any issues with video or music playback, either...

It doesn't change the capacity, but isn't the data stored compressed? So technically you can fit more effective data. Assuming compression gains of 10-15% it would be pretty close to the 970's 3.5 GB.

My guess is 1060 will be around 5-10% faster than RX 480 Tbh, 3GB VRAM shouldn't matter much at 1080P which is presumably the target res for this card, with Pascal's memory compression gains it's going to be similar to 3.5GB 970 I'm expecting a higher price, but if Nvidia wants to completely...

Dunno about that: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2016/06/27/asus_rog_gtx_1080_strix_gaming_video_card_review/5#.V3G08rjyv-g [H] compared AIB 1080 to AIB 980 Ti, 1080 is around 30% faster in some games. The 980 Ti hit 1430 MHz in-game, which is a pretty reasonable OC.

Why haven't 980ti prices droppedmore ?

Heh, so much for some people saying prices wouldn't drop. Exactly why I didn't recommend biting on used Tis for around $400. Anyway, that's a fair price for a new 980 Ti. Makes the current $420+ 1070 offerings overpriced. Great buy if you want something to tide you over until the 1080 Ti.
