    Use the hair dryer. It won't hurt it. Keep the air stream focused on the plate. After 30 seconds or so, grasp it by one edge and pry it off. Don't use a tool. AS will get you a couple or three degrees lower temps at most. Either the Zalman or AS will be fine.

    I have the Corsair memory, too, on an A8V, and I have to run 2.7 to keep the timings at 2225. Default appears to be 2.6, because I got Memtest errors and game crashes before I bumped it up. I also manually set the timings, rather than use "Auto".
