One thing to keep in mind is that these are all Wolfdale processors, so Intel is basically marketing: E7xxx = 1066 FSB, fully functional L2 cache (3 MB), yes/no VT depending on stepping E6300 = 1066 FSB with 2/3 the cache (2 MB) and VT turned on E5200 = 800 FSB with 2/3 the cache (2 MB)...

You are sitting on a 'classic' with that Q6600, other than the I-7s, only the high-end Intel Quad-Cores can match it, and they are running on what, 1600 FSB mobos? Sure, yours burns more power, but it's like a 60's muscle car; you can pick up newer and better performance for considerably much...

I thought it was a pretty cool home-project. And I think the $30 cost was for all supplies, not just what they used in the batch they cooked up. What do you normally get when you buy Aritc Silver now; about 3 grams? Better marketing and packaging could easily turn a profit from their initial...

What's Up with Wolfdale?

Is the E6300 just Intel marketing? The E5200, E5300, etc are 800 FSB with 2 MB L2 cache, while the E6300 is 1066 FSB but also with 2 MB L2. I BSEL modded my E5300 to run on at 1066 FSB and it chugs right along at 3.45 GHz. So did Intel just do the same BSEL (only internally) to create the...
