External mice not recognized?

Good idea! But I don't think it's a hardware problem as when I plug the dongle in, Windows detects and installs the hardware, eg., the mouse, it just doesn't work! On the K400 I have the mouse and keyboard are even on the same dongle and the keyboard works fine while the mouse is unresponsive.

Yeah I've tried the unifying software and nothing is detected. Moreover, even with a standard corded USB mouse - no workie.

Cloning an HDD with bad sectors?

Ended up using DD off a live ubuntu cd with the conv=sync,noerror remark. Worked like a charm! (I was astounded when Windows booted without any other hassle)

Upgrading Ram? AOD255E

Recently purchased this laptop and would like to upgrade the ram from 1GB to 2GB. I assume any DDR3 laptop ram will work, but I haven't been able to find an upgrade guide for this model specifically. Should I just take a shot at it and learn as I go? I think I have to remove the keyboard...

Athlon X2 BE overclocking

I have an M2N-E with an X2 5000 (2.6ghz) that I'm trying to overclock to 2.8ghz by adjusting the multiplier to 14. However, this is not working! Is CnQ the problem perhaps?

Windows 7 Taskbar: How to combine AND have labels?

To add to this there is a registry tweak to reduce the hover time. I set mine to 200ms from the default of 400ms. Much nicer.

So lately when I'm gaming on my SXPS1640 after an hour or so the game becomes a slide show. Through the magic of Core Temp I've discovered this to be due to CPU throttling, as whenever the C2D P8600 hits 79c, it slows from 2.4GHz to 800Mhz (1/3rd of the regular speed). After minimizing the game...

I don't think so, unless 7's included by default "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" is the issue. Hmm, I'll look into this. We're four hours apart time zone-wise so there may be something to this.

Asus Crash Free?

I've given up on the Crash Free; the Asus rep asserted that it wouldn't work. As far as I can tell, the BIOS chip appears to be replaceable (socketed) so hopefully Asus will just send me a new one. If not then there's always Ebay and BIOSMAN (interesting site btw).
