Just in case anybody has requirements similar to mine: It looks as if the new Latitude models such as the Latitude 5470 might fit the bill.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. But as far as I can tell, those are Ultrabooks with ix-5xxxU/6xxxU CPU. No quads available.

Where's support for .ogg and .flac in this masterpiece? Or support for .avi and .mkv containers? Where's the ability to embed cover art in MP3s? Why can't I sync anything but Apple devices with it? Why is it so bloated and still misses essential features such as last.fm support? Don't get me...

I have a weird problem on Win 7 x64. The scenario: I boot up my PC (doesn't matter if cold or warm). As I have a fast machine with SSD, I see the desktop within ~20s or so. The keyboard is fully responsive at that point. PC is responsive if I load programs via keyboard hotkeys etc. However...

i don't need a dvd drive indeed. which makes this a good idea. will start looking into 13.3" laptops I also like the suggestion. If I cannot find an Arrandale laptop I like, will probably order a E6400 or E6500 from the Dell outlet.

Airport Extreme or Linksys WRT600n?

The WDR3700 delivers WAY better performance and better 2.4GHz range than the Apple. Furthermore, the Apple has extremely limited features (no web-based configuration, no application triggered port-forwarding, no QoS). As for the Linksys, no WPA2 support totally sucks (kills N performance AFAIK)...
