Dude, the 730 is not built for laptop power efficiency. Seen too many threads knocking this awesome SSD because people are complaining about power consumption from an enterprise SSD.

So, what is the down-side to keeping a computer running 24/7? Make sure you include the average cost of electricity to run the computer 24/7, and compare that to the power scheme you run to see the cost savings (if any).

Memory causes BSODs in Windows 8, but only after a cold boot? (warm reboot is fine..)

I had a similar issue. Tested each memory module individually and found the culprit. RMA with Corsair was nice and smooth. Testing using MemTest+ and then each module individually is always the best course of action.

UEFI sucks if you are trying to uninstall W8 for W7. Granted, it's really only a few settings you need to change, but it is still a pain. And then if you are upgrading to an SSD, trying to get the old drive to be formatted for MBR. Granted, that too is a few setting changes, but if you don't...

Nice! But, is that a reason to defragment the SSD? For a 0.19 difference in time? And what would the effect of defragmenting be? Would that speed things up? Is it possible for you to test that? Very interested to see what you come up with.

I am talking about access time on an SSD being the same. Transfer time is different. Your post is all over the place. Once again, regardless of the location of the data on the NAND, access time is the same. Transfer time may be different due to TRIM and the work taking place within the SSD...

Yes, you are. Access times for an SSD are the same (all electronic), regardless of the location of the data (physical NAND). For a HDD, that is not the case. The read/write head would have to access different PHYSICAL locations on the platter (mechanical arm, spinning platter). That is why...

Quick heads-up on a great SSD - Toshiba 128GB

Never understood (outside of fanatical benchmarking) why people get caught up in sequential numbers of SSD's. Unless you are writing to another SSD, you will NEVER see those 400+ Mbps transfer rates.
