[HardOCP] XFX 7950OC review with clock-for-clock comparo to 7970

This is quite clear when comparing with Cape Verde. The HD 7750 got like, 50%+ perf/shader or thereabouts than the HD 7950 (I chose those two because they've the same clock speed).

7850/7870 performance

Playing unscientifically with some numbers, using a 1280SPs Pitcairn @ 1GHz, I think it should be about 30% faster than Barts, what sounds quite reasonable. (Although up to 40~45% faster wouldn't be far etched, depending on the memory's clocks and at what point the GCN's shaders scaling goes...

I just want to point that if you drop the "110% faster" bench, the average speed-up drops below 25%.

I think it is more about they wouldn't know what to do with it. I mean, increase cache's size and number of registers is one thing. Actually putting better algorithms, reducing cache's latency, reducing instruction's latency, putting more resources and actually managing to make use of them...

We are kidding with you sir. The joke is that AMD throwed twice as many cores and cache at us, plus more clock speed, but it seldom beats Intel, and that is only on a few highly threaded applications.

Found another one: Ukraine store accidentally ships FX-8120 and it gets tested!

No. 100% slower means not moving at all. Person one runs twice as fast, takes half the time. (100% faster, or 2X, or 200% of the speed of the second)

First thing, I don't really believe Bulldozer is going to be slower than Atom. The thing is, there is no data. It could be slower than Atom, as it could be 10x faster than Sandy Bridge. This is my point, as is Bridito's point.

bf3 is spanking my pc, 5850 is gonna have to go, aiming at gtx570..

How the hell did you arrive to this conclusion? An q9550 is doing 60fps min. His Q9400 shouldn't be doing less than 40. Also, there is something going on with the engine. An Q9550 should be no way in hell 3x as fast as an E8400, neither should an Phenom X4 be 2,5x as fast as an Athlon X4...

I think it would be fun if Intel produced a small number of Pentium 4s with the 22nm lithography. Wonder how it would clock, power consumption and how many Netbursts cores they could fit in the same die size as Sandy Bridge.
