    My 5870 can hit 74c at 900/1300. 87c seems a bit high considering on 5% performance gain. Off Topic: I love my 5870's idle temp: 35c!!! Really nice. The fan is only at 20% too! I can't even hear it.

    ATI 5850 idle Temps

    My 4890 idled at 55 before I underclocked it and increased the Fanspeed a bit. Now my 4890 idles at 40c. It still hits mid 70s at load, but I love my idle temps. Maybe try increasing the fanspeed? I'm not sure what's normal for a 5850, but 50c won't hurt it.

    I was able to overclock my CPU to 3.4GHz stable at 1.2750v, my ram is overclocked to 850MHz with 5-6-6-15 timings, and I got my 4890 to 900/1025 stable. 14,446 in 3DMark06 and P8064 in Vantage. More importantly, Crysis (Ice level) runs at a smooth 35+fps with 2xAA!!! I R VURY HAPY@!
