    Dedicated PhysX Card?

In my own testing with a dedicated Physx card, I found that the maximum frame rate increased. The average frame rate was either identical or better by a couple fps. Minimums were lower. I think this is due to increased latency caused by having to process PhysX on a separate GPU and send that...

Anyone here don't care about graphics cards and games anymore ?

While I don't have as much time to play games as I used to, I still enjoy gaming and video cards just as much as I ever did. I don't always buy the latest and greatest video card every generation, but I'm always interested in the latest and greatest.

    First GTX1070 review

If you also read the HardOCP review, they say the same thing he did. It throttles but even after the throttling it maintains higher then advertised boost clocks. I don't see the fuss, and this non issue will be even less of an issue with AIB cards.

    First GTX1070 review

Dude, no you absolutely do not. Why do I need to bring up GCN when we are talking about 1070 vs 980Ti? What if one has a gsync monitor? Your argument is falling apart so you're trying to shift goal posts to something that isn't even part of the discussion lol. If by throttle you mean maintain...

    First GTX1070 review

I've referred back to your post, and doesn't address the rest of my post, it just adds another variable which we weren't even talking about. I think I illustrated quite clearly in my last post, who should be buying a 980Ti over a 1070 at this point. As to the 4GB argument. DOOM won't even...

    First GTX1070 review

Two different cards, but lets go ahead and assume the same thing applies. It boils down to this... If all you're interested in is marginally better performance in what will soon be legacy games, and don't mind paying more for an EOL card that produces more heat, consumes more power and will be...

1080's destroy a 980Ti with or without extra power.
  10. J

    First GTX1070 review

You're confused. What you said makes no sense. 1070 doesn't have to be a "flagship" card when it already does almost everything better than your 980Ti. 3rd party cards will have better power delivery then the reference card, not to mention the 980Ti NEEDS better power delivery because it uses...

    First GTX1070 review

780Ti was a flagship card too, no one is going to pay $350 for it because it's performance is shit and there are better options. 980Ti's performance is still great, but there are better options. I'm going to quote what I said since you "forgot" to repudiate it. You also completely missed my...

    First GTX1070 review

GP104? Or 1070? You're using them both interchangeably it seems. GP104 includes the 1080 which has what some would consider to be a significant performance advantage. When it comes to VR and DX12 it's not even close. There's nothing wrong with people wanting to upgrade their 980Ti's to a 1080...

    First GTX1070 review

Maybe I missed it but I don't see any 980Ti owners about to jump ship to a 1070. I think they (and that includes me) know that the 1070 isn't targeted for existing 980Ti owners. There's no reason to convince people to stop doing when they never intended to do. For anyone coming form a 970 or...

What is going on with Anandtech[Missing reviews]?

GTX 1080 custom (non-Founders Edition) cards

No data? What are you talking about? We have data for the 560Ti, we have performance data, we have release date data we have pricing. We have data for the 1080 as well. We also have data that shows that you (not I) brought up the 560Ti argument and subsequently got destroyed. Now you're mad...

GTX 1080 custom (non-Founders Edition) cards

And there it is. Performance. One of the key factors that determines whether or not one deems an upgrade worthwhile. The factor that even in my discussions with him, he seems to be ignoring.

What is going on with Anandtech[Missing reviews]?

AT used to be on top of things a few years ago. Not only were they one of the first sites to get their reviews up but they also had one of the more in-depth reviews. Anand also had good relationships with folks "in the know" at several different companies and would often times pass along as many...

GTX 1080 custom (non-Founders Edition) cards

He's saying releasing a 699 1080 is like releasing a 699 560Ti. 560Ti never commanded the performance position the 1080 has. It was never the fastest or even close to it, and that wouldn't change even if nVidia released it before the 570/580 because there was another company called AMD which had...

GTX 1080 custom (non-Founders Edition) cards

Yes, the same question I had for you before. Please link me a review showing the 560Ti being the fastest card you can buy. Your reasoning makes no sense. 570/580 were released in 2010. AMD's Radeon HD5870 was released in 2009. If nVidia had released the 560Ti then waited a year to release the...

    First GTX1070 review

I have a 980Ti and it does not OC that high, so that's anything but gauranteed. Not to mention the price difference, then there's the DX12 and VR performance which a 1.5GHz 980Ti can't touch, and that's before we get into power consumption and 3rd party cards with better power delivery for...

    First GTX1070 review

Pretty sure your assessment is flawed. First you need to look at the price difference between the 1070 and 1080, it's huge, the performance is expected to be fairly large. Secondly, you're getting 980Ti level performance for far cheaper. If you're hoping this is a recipe for failure, prepare...

Because some people just don't want to believe their 980Ti's and Titan X's were just made obsolete by a card costing a fraction of the price. Soon we will have custom 1070's with dual PCIe power connectors for better OC and the last argument against it will no longer exist. Heck I get it, I...

Petition: Nvidia should support VESA Adaptive-Sync / FreeSync

It's a based on reality. It's a lot easier to buy a lower end freesync monitor then a gsync one. I haven't seen any "cheap" gsync monitors, I can't say the same for freesync. I can google and come up with instances where someone had an issue with a $2500 MacBook or high end PC laptop. I can...

Petition: Nvidia should support VESA Adaptive-Sync / FreeSync

You can absolutely buy what you want to, but the fact of the matter is that your average gsync monitor is a higher end product than your average freesync monitor. It's hard to buy a "bad" gsync monitor. There are good ones and there are better ones. Freesync can't make that same claim. Do I...

    Card for a new build

We have an idea what the performance is and in June we'll know for sure so half the reasons why you think it's the worst advise won't even exist which seems like it's pretty good advise considering. Even if you don't opt to buy one, you'll know what your options are.

Any PCI Express video card will work just fine.
  35. J

    Nvidia is dominating

I'm not sure what you're complaining about. In the hardocp review, while the card did throttle, it still maintained boost clocks higher then the advertised boost clock. Then there will be the aftermarket cards with much better cooling and power dilevery.

Are you buying a GTX 1070/1080?

The consumer version ;) and the cheaper "Ti" consumer version, not the Titan. Though seeing where these prices are going, I wouldn't be surprised if the new Ti is priced like the old Titan's.

    GTX 1070 have only 1920SP!

It is a major win. If no new cards were released at all and NVidia suddenly dropped the price of the 980Ti to $380 would that not be a great deal? I'll bet you'd have a hard time finding them in stock at that price. That's basically what's happening here, assuming they sell @ MSRP when released.
