Fix Current Laptop or Buy New?

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to look into buying a new one. Another option I thought of is to see if I can find an external battery charger--then I could at least use the laptop w/ its batteries.

Fix Current Laptop or Buy New?

So I've got a Gateway MT6841 laptop that hasn't been working for the last 6 months or so. It cost $700 2.5 years ago when I got it--came with Vista, 2gb RAM, 15" screen, etc. Now it's a large paperweight due to it no longer taking a charge from the A/C adapter. All signs pointed to the DC power...

E8400 - One core not stabile?

Did exactly that and one core (worker thread #1) ran the large FFT test for 33 minutes and the other core (#2) ran for 8.5 hours. So there still seems to be an issue. Ocguy31 - yep, I've got CPU Spread Spectrum disabled. I didn't see anyway to disable the Transaction Booster and when I tried...

E8400 - One core not stabile?

Tried upping the CPU vcore to the max recommended (1.3625v) and it is still failing out of P95 after 5-10 minutes. :( I don't get it--I thought E8400s were supposed to reach 9x400 without breaking a sweat?

Right now I'm at 9x400, memory at 1:1 (so 800), and 1.2v vcore and 2.0v dram. One thing I'm confused about is what exactly the FSB Termination Voltage does and what I need to set it to? Right now I have it on Auto.

Trying to OC my new E8400/PQ5 Pro setup and am testing for stability in Prime95. Unfortunately the first core appears to be quite a bit more stabile than the second, as evidenced by the durations below. Is there a way to address this on a per-core basis without having to broadly apply more...

Logitech G7 Critical Battery Warning

So I just got the Logitech G7 "Gaming" mouse but its got the most annoying "feature" in games. When the battery gets low it will pop up a "Battery is critical" message every so often. While you're in the middle of a battle in a game this pretty much screws you over because it slows the game down...

Not exactly sure when this started happening, but on some websites Firefox (1.5) simply won't load some of the images. For example, whenever I look at movie reviews on RottenTomatoes.com, it will show either the tomato icons or the splat icons, but not both. It's like it is prematurely ending...

Website that aggregates band tour dates?

Yeah, before I posted I had briefly googled this and Pollstar was the first to come up. It is *sort* of what I was looking for, but it is quite limited in that you can only add 5 bands to your notify list (plus the interface isn't exactly the greatest).

I just got a new cell phone and was wondering if I can just leave the AC adapter permanently plugged into the wall rather than unplugging it whenever it is not charging the phone. It is annoying to have to reach down and plug it in every time I want to charge the phone. Will it hurt it in anyway...
