I have 5 year old turion x2 based hp compaq notebook that i am looking to breath some new life into. Is there a particular distribution that is more laptop friendly, particularly for older models?
I work for a major public electrical utility that uses XP for everything. Bleeding edge tech in nuclear and solar and still a reliance on XP. When my hdd failed on my 12 year old desktop the IT department gave me a brand new I7 based Dell. Which of course.....runs windows XP.
Thanks for the responses. It looks like its a question of how much size do I really need. I have had good experiences with crucial products, but anecdotes dont make for a reliable dataset. Any preferences here between crucial, owc and samsung?
I have a 5+ year old laptop with a smallish 5400 rpm hdd. According to its specs its has an "SATA-150" interface for the drive. Sifting through the mass of drives available has proven difficult. I realize most ssds are probably faster than what the interface can transfer, but at what point might...
Wow has the hard drive landscape changed recently. I paid $52 dollars shipped for this drive last Feb. I just realized my post is of absolutely no value to anyone........
