advice on what Firewire capture card to buy? - already own premiere

hmm, I've been cruising eblay, they have quite a few cheap cards available all the time... is there any particular way to determine if its got a ti chipset? I looked at the specs for the pyro 1394 and the pinnacle studio dv, but I couldnt' find anything.

Hi, I already own a copy of premiere, so I'm looking for a cheap capture card to throw into my new video editing box.. its a kt7a-raid machine in win2k. Anyone know what the best card(s) for price and compatibility with premiere are/is ? I've been looking at the pinnacle and dazzle...

I heard that hyperz remains disabled for all your opengl applications ie: quake3/halflife is this true? I'm thinking about laying down 135 canadian myself ;)

man, not to crap on your thang, I don't know what other people think but I hate all those sites that run "Register for our forum and win an ORB!!" type contests. We all have our own forums we use already, its too late to get in on that game unless you're providing something different...

I've had my 900nf for about 6 months now, and its beautiful. The other 4 monitors in my house have been side to side to it at various times, and just cannot compete. Its depressing when I look at the 15" non-flat screen from dell I used until I bought this for like 2 years. - ElSmoko

at my highschool, the religious groups had religious prayer meetings around the flag pole 15 minutes or so before school started. I'm very atheist, but I thought it was cool of them. I think it should be allowed to have institutionalized religious groupings, *** as long as they aren't done...

Abit KT7A vs Asus A7V133

I have a kt7a-raid... its a good board, but all the patches and crap you have to apply is annoying and confusing, there doesn't seem to be a _right_ way to do it ;/ don't know how all the other boards are working

if you put a fan on that baby it should be alright, it seems to be identical hardware. as for disabling hyper-z for licensing issues, well, why would they pay for the 'radeon' name if licensing was a problem? *edit* w00t! I'm a senior member now, fear me ;)

T'Bird O'Clockers: What y'all Cooling It With?

I've heard good things about the new Thermaltake volcano cooler... specifically the fan is supposed to be better than the fop38 in terms of performance _and_ noise. I was reading in the hardocp forums about a guy who mixed the volcano fan with the fop38 heatsink, and got even better performance.

Poll: Leave computer on all the time or shut it off diligently when not in use.

uhm that whole fop-38 7200rpm fan at 46 db makes one want to turn his/her computer off when sleep is required hehe.

What is the longest time you have gone without sleep?

I did 4 days for a video assignment. by the end I didn't even remember what I was talking about when I saw the footage and but I remember everyone was screwing with me. I was so angry by the end, its weird like you get paranoid thoughts but they don't seem paranoid at the time. ugh its hard...

I just moved the hd to Cable Select and noticed zero improvement in benchmarking, although (probably psychologically) the system seemed faster heh.

I just disabled acpi in win2k, and rebooted. had to provide drivers for everything again, so I did... and now sandra gives me 17,000 (instead of 11,000). When my new fan arrives for overclockin' (fop38) I'll reinstall everything, and see how that goes ;) - ElSmoko

75GXP 45gig hd + kt7a == 10,000 on sandra? Is this on par?

I disabled apci, reinstalled all the patches, and now I'm getting scores of 17,000... which is quite a bit better but still not as good as it should be. oh well, thanks for the help.

so does anyone want to post what they did in which order to get their performance at least decent? I've done it all, and yet my performance of my ibm 75gxp 7200rpm 45gig hd is 11,000 in sandra, which is like half what it should be.
