If you rip your own cd's to AAC, there's no reason you'd have to use iTunes. I'm sure there are other AAC players for windows. It's not a proprietary format. Quick info about AAC

I probably wouldn't be switching from Winamp2 to iTunes had I not already become a fan of iTunes on my mac. Winamp2 is a great player, but I just really like iTunes now.

I've downloaded it and tried it out. It's pretty much just like the mac version. I use it on my mac at home, and glad that I'll be able to use it on my laptop and work PC now.

If there is one thing IBM does better than anyone else, it's keyboards. From their old "clicky" keyboards to the thinkpad laptops, IBM makes the best feeling keyboards (although they do still market crappy ones). I'd rather type on my thinkpad than any desktop pc anyday. Really good idea...

HELP!!! I used a Magnetic Screw Driver to Assemble System half-way, Didn't know it was Magnetic!!!!

I use the magnets out of broken hard drives to magnetize screwdrivers that aren't already magnetized. One time, I took an Orion 15" subwoofer and lowered it over a drive until it picked the drive up. Then I sat it down on top of the other Orion 15" sub and let them sit there for a few hours...

What's the oldest piece of hardware in your computer that you still use daily?

Internet Pro keyboard for me, too. Love the usb ports, and the volume control. All their new keyboards are so ugly! I hope this one doesn't break any time soon, bc I have yet to see another one I like as much.

Thank you for the tip Gunbuster. I had never even thought to look in the driver settings. I thought it was something the monitor did on its own. But sure enough, setting it to 'Centered output' keeps it from stretching the display.... Thanks!

Where's the riot in that? Sure a component could have an electronic failure, there's not much you can do about that. But I can avoid common mechanical failures such as fans and hard drives by not having them. I can't imagine that's such an unreasonable desire.

I really don't think what he said was useful. My way of securing the electronics is to build a small system that has high tolerances for heat and no fans to draw dust, and then to enclose it in a case to keep out moisture and as much dust as possible. That's what I've been saying all along...
