Dual FirePro Crossfire Advantages

I agree, but they are a significant step up from the NVS 295 that I was running and still have more power and capability than I need for graphics. With all that excess power, the question is there something that crossfire will provide, or any way I can leverage OpenCL with them?

Good things to consider, I have some pondering to do. Does ESXi cause any issues with ZTS? Server Class is great, but the costs get out of hand quickly...I like the features of the ASUS (though I have had bad experiences with them in the past), but I can have a spare Z77 board sitting around...

I agree...if I was using RAID. However with ZFS I am not sure that will be buying me much going for enterprise class raid. I had that before and do not see it as a good fit...maybe if I had twice the number if systems and funds it would be more realistic. Thanks!

The AOC was chosen for stability... but an SATAIII would be better. I am open to recommendations. H80i probably won't get me much...this is the server and sits down in a rack in the basment...noise is not an issue. HTPC systems are nuc's...they run pretty quite. Thanks!

Help with my New Build for Power and Dependability Please

Use the FirePro or Quatro, was in the same boat a few years ago, drivers were not up to my stability requirements on non-cad based cards. Also use APC for UPS. I have sampled several, APC is the best for reliability.

Fan noise is not something I have noticed when playing back with Ubuntu/XBMC, but I run at higher volumes through my amps. Ran 4 HD movies back to back last weekend without any hickups, I am sure the fan was running at least some of the time, but I did not notice it.

Had a simpler solution...got rid of the card. 8 weeks of work and still never worked right. Tried the tech support, but they were even less help. So far the best card I have had is my current 7600GT, stable and no issues. Now I need to upgrade for additional monitors, its time to retire...

Thanks for the insight. I tried Eye-finity last year with awful results, makes me a little scared to try again (took a $100hit selling the card, never achieved what I was trying to accomplish). That has made me aprehesive to use AMD again...though luck with NVIDIA does not mean continued...
