The nice thing about flashing a AGP Video Card bios is that if it doesnt work you can stick a PCI Video Card in so you have a chance to reflash the AGP card. Not like a motherboard where you make a mistake and your dead.
Could It maybe be that the main power connector to the MB isnt completely tight did you try pushing it down a little extra so that little clip on the power connector locks on to the motherboard connector. Intermittent power is usually something lose. Well you probably already checked this but...
Just unplug comp from the wall and remove the battery for a couple of minutes. When you reboot it will prompt you to go to setup. The you can just load defaults.
How long do these batteries last then. I live in Florida so during the summer you better pull the plug from the wall because surge protectors arent fast enough to save your comp from a close lightning strike. So i always unplug mine if i know i wont be home in the afternoons. And i had one...
Yes, thats what a lot of people do to share their internet connection. I have one NIC set to obtain automatically attached to my cable modem. And i have another NIC set to 192.168.0.1 attached to a hub goin to my lan. Sygate software has worked great for me for sharing my internet between the...
Probably not the memory on those cards causes a bottleneck at about 800X600. My friend has one and if he goes over 800X600 his frame rate plummets. Thats in Quake3 though. You probably would want to spend a little more and get one of the original geforce2 gts. Thats what I have and I can...
This same type thing happened to my sisters comp and when it would actually boot none of the pci cards would work. It was weird, anyways the problem turned out to be a bad power supply. Once we changed that everything was perfect. Hope you get it working.
Today I just tried to add some memory to my second machine. It has a Micronics C300 MB(LX Chipset). It originally had two 32 mb pc100 dims double sided in dimm slots 1 and 2. I tried to add 128mb pc100 dim also double sided into dim slot 3. When I first added it the comp booted fine and...
Im using Sygate to connect my to machines to the net. I have 2 nics in the server and 1 in the client connected to a regular soho 10mb hub. Im using netbui for my file and print sharing. I've noticed when i transfer files over my lan that the collision light will flash every few seconds. The...
I dont know if this really helps you but why dont you try downloading Sygate. Its a free trial for 30 days and then cost you 30 bucks to keep it. It was so easy to setup I couldnt beleive it.
It also uninstalls very cleanly should you not like it. The reason you need netbeiu to see your...
If thats the original revison of the bios I would flash it. I've had a few asus motherboards and I always flash after a few final bios revisions are released. i.e. my CUSL2 came with 1001a and I waited until 1003 final was released then I flashed. Later bios revisions usually fix problems that...
If you have the floppy cable on backwards the light will stay on and not shut off. The reason it gives you that ata100 message is because you dont have any fdisked drives on the ide channels. I also had this happen where i had the cable connected to the floppy and was missing a row of the...
I recently had a computer that i did a MB upgrade on and everything was working fine then I attached another hd and couldnt even get the board to post just like your having. No beeps, no video. The fans would all come on and the only way to get the comp to shut off was to hit the switch on the...
My P3-700 CBO @ 933 1.7v Runs at around 32c doin normal stuff and around 45c under full load. Maybe your motherboard isnt reporting your temps correctly because im suprised you wouldnt be getting lockups at that temp. I did read somewhere that the P3s are rated up to 80c never heard of anyone...
I like my CS802 PX3. Its the same case that 3dCool makes there Tornado 1000 overclocking cases. But without the blowholes. It looks really nice and is very very easy to work in toolless, motherboard tray, lots of room inside. Nothing on the motherboard blocked as with the Inwin A500 which i...
Thanks for everyones help. I went to 933 and it worked great but would lock up occasionally. Raising the voltage to 1.75 fixed it. I couldnt be happier its like getting a new cpu for free. I dont know why I waited so long to try it. Final temps Idle 32c Full Load 43c. Thanks again.
I did this slight overclock just to get a feel for what would happen with my sl45y P3. The only temperature that went up was my idle went up from 32c to 33c but under load it didnt go up at all and stayed at 41C same as when it was at 700. I benchmarked afterwards so I know the overclock took...
I also had this long delay when booting and it was my network card. I figured out how to fix it was to go to Network in the control panel and under the tcp/ip settings make sure that wins resolution, and dns are disabled. As soon as i did this everything booted just like i would expect it to...
I would try manually adjusting your refresh rates. For some reason my Geforce2 using any of the Nvidia reference drivers would screw up my monitor and it was that it was setting the monitor to bizzare refresh rates. Maybe the reason 640 is the only one that works is that that is the only...
The problem is that even though my PCI modem and Sound Card are properly detected and installed. I am not getting any sound out of the soundcard. When I go to the windows mixer it even shows the bar moving like everything is playing fine. Also when I go to log on to the internet you can here...
This is exactly what my sister did. I brought over a zip drive and she just unplugged her printer and plugged in the zip. The computer immediately froze. We figured whoops, reboot, no problem. Instead nothing. Drives power up but there is no picture on monitor and no beep codes of any kind...
someone wrote and said that his gorb wires frayed after a few months because of the sharp edges on the fins. This caused his motherboard to short out. I checked mine and you can see little slivers of the plastic coating has been shaved away it looks like something that would have happened when...
