Help needed with flashing Nvidia bios

I could probably figure this out, but would prefer not to do trial and error with the bios. Have an Abit GF4 4200 1.) Just want to verify that there would be no problem replacing the current bios with the most recent reference bios, or should I use the Abit bios that is still a revision back...

Gainward GeForce FX 5800 Ultra - fan at only 7db?

only 7db.... from 200 feet away.... in another room.... in a different building.... I could see 27db a lot easier than 7db, but even than that is pushing kind of low for the cfm of air that would need to flow past the heat sink to provide adequate cooling, unless the 7 db is in the low...

Best card for around $100?

For about $110-$125 you could pick up a Ti4200 64mb card. Works as well as a 128mb card in most current games, certainly at lower resolutions. You start to lose out on its bigger brother when you crank the resolution up, turn on AA and play the more recent heavily graphics intensive games.

convert .doc to pdf or html for FREE

I prefer pdf995 (it's adware, or you can buy it for $10) it installs as a printer and as long as you can print something it can be turned into a pdf file regardless of format it is.

ATI RADEON 9100 Chipset

Why do they do this. I thought the numbering system was to match DirectX capabilities 9XXX -> DX9 8XXX -> DX8 7XXX -> DX7 Since they changed it for the 9000 reg. & pro I guess they might as well for the 8500/9100

RFI 9500 Pro Rebate & best guess

E-mailed ATI about the much sought after rebate for the 9500 Pro and got a canned system responce about a different rebate program. My guess would be that it would be similar, in as much as participating retailers and general guidelines. probably doesn't help anybody, but don't count on...

newbie needs advice - no signal to monitor!

Just for the sake of testing. Why don't you try set up dual monitors using both cards and see what happens. See if windows still recognises that the gf3 is still in your computer. If the agp port is dead, windows will not be able to recognize it, you should probably ditch the nvidia driver...

My gf is going into graphic design next semester.. what to get for her computer?

Viewsonic makes some great monitors, I use a P220f for AutoCAD and love it. Perfectly flat and great clarity. She will most likely need a 19" or larger monitor for any type of graphics work. Make sure there is no curve to the screen and that it has a small dot pitch. Drives me nuts to stare...

What's the best sub $30 heatsink

Minedo, I used antec thermal grease when I put the heatsink on, I was planning on using Artic Silver 3 and a copper shim when I installed the the new heatsink. Thanks for the answers all, maybe I can see this go below 63 degrees for the first time ever.

What's the best sub $30 heatsink

I presently have a Athlon XP 2000+ with the generic heatsink fan combo. The reading from my motherboard says the cpu temp is at 65 degrees when running just Word for an hour or so. What would be the recommended heatsink? I do want to take this box to LAN parites and run it all day long, but...

Good News: emachine guys can upgrade their video memory to 32MB!

Please explain further, does the new version 6.6 drivers suddenly take over 32MB of your system ram rather than the normal 4MB? I would like to know, I'm putting togather a system for my sister using an old Intel CA810 motherboard.

Prepare your taxes for free!

Don't forget that if you have a pretty normal tax filing your local IRS office will prepare your federal taxes for you free of charge. You just have to go there. IIRC they will even e-file it for you for free. Once that is done it is pretty simple to file state taxes (just fill in the blanks).
