Use the 8GB or the 16GB?

Dunno what you want...you answered your own question. 16G gives you more memory but might or might not limit your overclock. If the ram ends up "just sitting there," you can always make a RAM disk for some commonly used programs.

That doesn't make sense. Why spend the money if it's not going to give you an advantage? We'd just end up with a set of AMD-supported games that run like crap on nividia, and another set of Nvidia-supported games that run like crap on AMD. Either way, the consumer looses.

How important is Prime 24/7 stable, really?

IMO, it's a good question. Does anyone really know how error rate scales with heat and processor load? Is it like a 1 / 1B chance of an error at 100% load goes to 1 / 10 * 1B errors at 90% load? Or is it more like 1 / 1B * 1B at 90%?

Biostar Motherboards....Bad?

Biostar sold a bunch of motherboards w/Phenom II core unlocking. Then they went out of their way to specifically disable core unlocking across all of their BIOS updates, even on high-end boards that otherwise had the complete set of overclocking features. Never forgive, never forget!

The norm is 500mA on USB 2.0 ports and 900mA on USB 3.0 ports. The Gigabyte "3x power" motherboards can do 1500mA on every port.

Disks in RAID-5 won't go to sleep (790GX)

99.99999% of RAID controllers don't do power management. It used to be that to get power management with RAID, you had to spend BIG BIG TURKEYS. However, some of Adaptec's newer, lower-priced cards (as low as $250) do support it. AFAIK, that's the only way you will get RAID with power management...

Who provides OS media with laptops?

When I bought a refurbished tablet from the Fujitsu ebay outlet, they sent me the OS disk, driver disk, and the disk for the software it came with (OneNote). ps - always consider donating old/unused OS licenses to a local school or charity; usually they need licenses much more than new hardware.

It seems to me that in order to make air move, you must create a pressure void. Air will then move from the area of higher pressure to the area of lower pressure. If a difference in pressure makes air move, then it should follow that two fans with the same cfm rating should have exactly the same...
