Help me AT-obiwan! 4890 or 2x 5770's?

This. isn't the performance between xfire 5770 and 5850 around the same? The 5850 is just a bit more and it is a single gpu solution, in the long run you can add another 5850 for cheap when you feel it isn't fast enough.

they are idle temps. i was wondering about the temperature difference, cause if the hardware monitor is more accurate, it seems like i might be able to oc a bit more before i reach 70c

Which program is more accurate? Realtemp or CPUID Hardware Monitor? When i use both, they seem to vary by about 2oC between the two programs

8 pin to 6 pin PCI-E Power Connector

ohh stupid me, i found out that i was attaching the 8 pin pci-e connectors the wrong way. since it was modular i just tried connecting 1 and thought all the 8pins were not detachable to 6+2, but infact they were. Nevermind problem solved :D

I have the Ultra X4 850watt PSU and want to crossfire 2 HD5850 however i only have 3 6pin connectors and 3 8pin connectors. I'm wondering if it is safe to use a 8pin to 6pin adapter.

Did my cpu die, HELP!

i believe it is your motherboard because something similar happened to me too. When i replaced the mobo everything worked fine.

try reseating the heatsink and see if it helps, because maybe it isn't having enough contact

Low 5850 Scores

i recently used 3dmark Vantage and i'm getting lower scores than what i see compared to other people on the internet. GPU Score: 14923 CPU Score: 17396 i'm using the 5850 at stock clocks with a i5 750 at 3.8ghz. I"m not sure what is the problem D: Using the newest drivers too.

Warning about MSI's RMA department

ok just got my msi laptop back, turn around time was 2 days :D. Again this is because i went to drop off and pick up since the RMA center was pretty close to where i live.

CF 5770 vs Single 5850

agreed, 4gb should be enough for most computing tasks, and an upgrade to 5850 would last you alot longer. Then maybe you can crossfire the 5850 in a few years when you don't think it is fast enough. or you can always just get 4gb and pocket the money xD

i agree with blanketyblank, just go with a single 5770 and see if it runs at the fps you want it to then see if you need to get a second

i had an Asus motherboard and EEE PC replaced no problem, turnover time was really quick too, around 3days to a week, but that is because i went to drop off and pickup since i lived close to it. This is in Canada btw, not sure if that makes a difference. Right now i have my MSI laptop being...

Crossfire 2 4890 or 4870X2?

I'm planning to upgrade from a HD3850 512mb. Currently my mobo has 1 pciexpress 16x and 1 pci express 8x with a 500watt psu. What would be my best option for an upgrade? I'm planning to play at 1920x1080 res.
