    It's easy to find 1U passive heatsinks for a certain socket. The problem is that 1U Chassis tend to have a million 40mm fans in front or some fancy blower design - making them super loud. Which is exactly what OP got in a number of replies.

    My i7 920 is currently doing 54c idle. Goes to about 65c load. I run my fans are uber low rpm and bring them up to 100% during load to keep the temps manageable on load. I've not seen any issues and this rig is 5~ years old now.

    All of these pre-sealed water cooling solutions seem overpriced. Most of them are fairly loud on the pump and at $100+ I'd get the best performing HSF. Although, space wise you can shove these in pretty small cases and get damn good cooling.

    I will always use more intake fans than exhaust. The intake fans should have dust filters as well. You lost airflow with the filters but if you use extra fans you can make up for the lack of air and less dust means less maintenance and same temps for quite a good while.
