Thanks for all the advice.
The modem is probably less than 10 feet where it comes from into the side of the house into the basement. I was originally thinking of moving the modem to the middle floor, but not until this whole mess gets sorted out.
Alright, got it! Tomorrow morning I will check the physical cables and connections, and then contact to escalate. I'll also see how (if possible) to get my own logs.
I should point out that we live in a detached home in the suburbs in a newish (~10 years), smallish neighbourhood.
As others have mentioned as well, pointing to network congestion. Wouldn't the ISP have logs of that? I'm learning a lot here today.
Thank you ALL for your ideas and help.
I figured that their modems wouldn't be the best out there, but it's concerning because I've been using it for a long time now with no issues, when all of a sudden this past week it just goes all wonky. Also, I guess I should've mentioned it, but i've tried a Hitron CGN3 modem as well with them...
I'm in Canada with Rogers, the modem is this one :https://www.rogers.com/customer/support/article/learn-more-about-the-rogers-ignite-modem#!
I'm on the Gigabit pkg.
Hopefully someone reading this can provide a bit of insight regarding this issue we’ve been having at home recently. My brain is fried thinking about it.
The Issue:
Earlier this week (Monday, March 9), I noticed that while playing some WoW that everything started lagging. Cast times, looting...
I know that if you bought GoW4 on xbox one, it would come with codes for GoW 1,2,3 Judgment sent out in waves. Does this also pertain to the free GoW 4 that comes with the Nvidia Gtx 1070-1080 purchase?
Thanks
Coming from a windows 7 machine. Is there a way I can try Windows 8.1 before I commit and spend some $$ on the new OS?
I haven't even seen 8 in action, and would like to see how it runs.
Looking for legit methods :)
A couple reasons why:
-Needed same day fan (Sunday). Amazon doesn't have same day shipping on the weekend.
- FF14 beta. Computer needed to be up.
- Amazon Canada surprisingly doesn't have the same inventory as its US counterparts.
i think the sickleflow being a non PWM fan is probably a reason why i can't regulate fan speeds. I'm such a noob, i guess i'll have to do it through lowering the voltage.
Picked up a Coolermaster Sickleflow yesterday to replace a fan with a broken blade in my Noctua DH14. The computer store supply was limited to the Coolermaster, they didnt' have any Scythe gentle typhoons or yate loons in stocik.
Attached it to CPU HSF and plugged right into the P9x79 cpu pin...
i tried to get 4.4 on 1.285v as well. it's just not stable enough. A couple runs of prime 95 and IBT lock everything up. Temps are still pretty good though, the highest core only hit 71 during the test.
The best i can get right now on 1.275 is around 4.2 or so. I really want 4.4 (ideally 4.5)...
i started a thread about this other day. Of all the cards that people recommended, MSI was given the most +1's.
I picked it up the other day (MSI GTX770 Twin Frozr), and it's still in shrink wrap as I am waiting till past the weekend for buyer's remorse to either go away or cause me to return...
thanks for the replies guys. No one recommended the gigabyte one even though it has the three fans huh?
I wish i had the cash for a 780, but a 770 will have to do.
It's mainly for FF14 and other mmo's anyways. I'm not a big FPS guy.
I'm looking at 4 specific models of the gtx 770
- ASUS GeForce® GTX 770 DirectCU II
- MSI GeForce GTX 770 Twin Frozr 3 2GB
-EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SC w/ ACX Cooler 2GB
-Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 2GB WindForce 3X GDDR5
They are all roughly around the same price. I'm just looking for...
I'm planning on playing some MMO's on my Panny ST65. I wonder how safe it would be to do so, since especially mmo's have static HUDs that will be up for long periods of time. Also, I'll probably be on for multiple hours at a time.
Is IR avoidable by turning off the panel every couple hours? Or...

I hope this is some typo... but if not, you 'murricans better jump all over that!
I'm staying STRONG! thanks for the words of encouragement! Besides, FF14 doesn't even come out till later this year, and SC2 is a pushover anyways!
Love it!
Just reading through this thread really makes me want to pull the trigger on a 3770k now. I was waiting for the 4770k, but having $275-$300 access to some 3770k's right now...
Coming from an i7 920 and factoring in the 'release' and street availablilty of a 4770k in Canada.. should I just...
When it comes down to it, 2 months isn't so long to wait. Even if its just to see what the 4770k does to the 3770k pricing. I wonder just how much difference going from an i7 902 @ 3.6ghz to a 4770k will be for mainly streaming stuff on twitch. (Sc2, FF14, etc). I just want the smoothest...
ok, so if it "releases" on Sunday, June 2nd.. I can probably expect it to be realistically in T.O stores by like the second week of July then.
Awesome.. how to hold off till then?
I've been eyeing the 3770k for a bit (also the 3930k, but it's still a bit $$). I kinda wanted to get a 4770k probably because of the shiny factor. Besides I was thinking if the 4770k is going to sell for what the 3770k sells for now... then why not just get the newest chip? Other than that, I...
Does anyone have a ballpark (or more approximate) idea when I will be able to walk into a computer shop here in Toronto and pick up a 4770k off the shelf?
I'm still sitting on an 17 920 @ 3.6 and I stream everything I play. I really would like to get an upgrade on this cpu, so I'm having a...
Is there an idea of when the haswell equivalent of the 3930k will arrive?
I might wanna step it up to a higher level with this upgrade....
I guess what i'm saying is that I'm looking for something powerful along the lines of a 3930k..
I guess the 4770k just won't cut it.
I don't really have issues running stuff i'm playing now per se.
40% Starcraft 2
40% Path of Exile
20% Random flavor of the month game (DMC, Tomb Raider, Simcity, etc)
I like to play with most eye candy on, obviously more GPU intensive there.
Thing is, I like to stream on twitch 720p...
The question begs to differ: Coming from an i7 920 @ 3.6ghz, is it worth upgrading to a 4770k in the near future, or go straight to a 3930k now?
PC use = 2% Productivity 98% Streaming and Gaming
i7 920@3.6ghz
12 gb ddr3
gtx680 @ 2500x1440
Using Xsplit 1.2 or Open broadcasting software (game capture mode)
Hey guys, I have a 27" monitor that runs natively @ 2500x1440 resolution. I know this capture card supports a max capture of 1080p resolution though. Is there some way that I can use this card to stream on twitchtv playing at...
is there some way to check how many hours the TV has been used? I haven't really poked around much, so i'm not even sure how to get into the advanced menus for calibration. I'll check it out a bit after work though
Since i've had the panel for over a month now though, I'd guess it's too late to 'prep' it. Do you think I'd be able to just plug in D-Nice's calibration numbers?
I did no panel prep on my 65" ST50. I've had it since the end of september though, and i'm sure i've put it through at least 100 hrs of use (is there even a way to check it? Couldn't find it in the settings). Have I doomed my set in the process? Or is it not that big of a deal?
