IE DNS problem

I think I found the problem - it was a proxy setting that set the proxy server in Tools -> Connections to "localhost:6502". I should have looked there in the first place but since I didn't put it there, I thought it was some kind of browser error. But now I think it's some kind of adware...

Firewall IDE drives vs. standard IDE drives

Just did some research myself and you're right, firewire doesn't hold a candle to IDE. But it sure saves me from having to crack open my computer case :)

Firewall IDE drives vs. standard IDE drives

What would the performance difference be (if any) if you had four IDE drives in firewire boxes compared to four IDE drives attached to the primary and secondary IDE channels of your computer? Just out of curiosity, wouldn't having firewire hard drives be equivalent of Serial ATA?

An unusual request

IE experts... help!

Logitech Z560 Speaker Wiring

Radioshack wire is fine. Expensive wire doesn't do anything for speakers like the Z560. You need to have some serious HT to notice a difference with those Carol wires.

Just took out my GF3 Ti 500 and put in my Radeon 8500 and all I can say is WOW!

What's with the nvidiots? "I'll stick with my excellent drivers thank you very much?". I doubt he posted just to start a flame war. Sheesh, I thought this forum had it's share of Nvidia vs. <video card company here> I guess not.

How to do "traditional break-in period" for new speakers?

Computer speakers aren't sensitive enough to require a breaking-in period. Now if you had some monsters in your living room that cost over $2k, then that's another story.

Matrox interview

Why bother even releasing a new card? It seems as though they could have taken the G450 and added all that 3D head crap to it. They would have named that G450 Special 3D Head edition and be done with it. This is really a disappointment, even though I really liked my G400... this card offers...

Have own domain... can I setup sub-domain for free?

Right now I own "dxpc.com" and it's hosted on media3.net. But can I setup something like "home.dxpc.com" and point it to another IP address, say my computer at home? Thanks!

Thanks for the info on the hub and switches :) I just set the NICs yesterday to 100 FDX yesterday and I ran NetCPS again but the same results as above. Are those results what I should be getting?

I thought it would be clear that: k = kilobit kb = kilobyte Right now I'm running the same speed as a 10baseT hub, which isn't what I put my money down for! :( Both machines are running Win2k and in the network connection properties, the cables ARE connected at 100mbps. I'm testing the speed...

I recently bought a 10/100 hub and I have two computers hooked up to it, both have 10/100 NICs. But when I transfer files through my FTP program, the speeds barely break 900k/s. Shouldn't they be 9000k/s?

Do the Sony Vaio notebooks have Win2K drivers ?

If the machine did not come with Win2k installed, you are going to have a hard time locating compatible Win2k drivers for a dual-boot.
