Not sure it will work with all software, but I have done it with several.

Anyone Had This Problem With 10?

It was an upgrade from a clean install of W7. The time zone was correct and the time had been correct until all of a sudden when it was 12 hours ahead. I am going to see how well it works out with the original HD. It was a 1TB WD and the other is a 240 GB Crucial SSd. Thanks for the replies...

Anyone Had This Problem With 10?

I have 10 Pro on a Dell laptop, quad-core with 12 GB of Ram. Last night, I noticed the time was 12 hours off. I went to adjust date and time and had to turn off auto set time so I could set the correct time. After setting it, I turned the auto set back on. The laptop locked up so badly the...

Dual booting and windows 7 problem

I am a little late to the party, but here is my take on this. I just went through the same thing. I went into the bios and turned off UEFI and that took care of the problem. I do understand some motherboards don't have the option to turn it off though. Smitty

Here's a new one for you!!!!

I knew there was one person on here smart enough to figure it out!!!! The large fan was facing up in with less than 1/4 inch from the top of the case and the air flow through the psu was not enough to carry away the heat. The psu was a 500 watt with plenty of amps on the rails.

It was not a Powermax, but just as bad, Dynex!!!! But that was not what caused the problems. Any more guesses?

I have a friend's computer that had a bad hard drive back in Sept. I put in a new one and just a few days ago, he called me and the hard drive had failed again. I put in another one and was tweaking the OS and all of a sudden, I got the BSOD. The computer would not boot and I did get the bad RAM...

Netbook with very small, low-res screen

I had one of those netbooks several months ago. If I remember correctly, there was an option somewhere, probably in desktop properties, to change the resolution to 800 X 600. Then if something was off the bottom of the screen, you could just scroll and see all of it. Good Luck Smitty

Faster Netbook OS

I have an emachines 250 netbook that came with Windows 7 Starter. It has a 5400 RPM hard drive. I have upgraded it to 2 GB of RAM. I have not been happy with it as it is so SSSSLLLOOOOWWWW opening programs, IE 8 for one. I bought a 120 GB 7200 RPM hard drive and installed Ubuntu netbook...

Bad memory stick - what to do?

You said it all, "Just trying to save a few $$'s." That would mean you need to RMA it. All it would cost is postage to send it to Crucial. In 10 years, I have only had 1 stick of Crucial RAM go bad and I sent it to them and had the replacement in no time. Their customer service is very good...

Netbook and RAM upgrade

Has anyone upgraded a netbook's RAM using DDR2-800? The netbook came out with DDR2-667. I have access to a 2GB stick of 800 and want to see if my netbook will work with it. I do know if it works, it will be at the 667 speed. I know someone will come on and say that my netbook's model is needed...

The GF wants a netbook

Friday, Walmart still had 5 of the eMachines 10" netbooks left from the day after Christmas. They have 1GB of RAM, 250 GB harddrive and the 1.6 Ghz cpu. They were marked $228 and I picked one up. Smitty
