Yeah, the ram ran fine(say that 5 times fast) from around 1000 to 1600, although I didn't try lowering the voltage. Maybe if I really loosen the timings to something like 11-11-11-24 they'll work, but that just makes me regret not having just gone with a better kit in the first place. I had no...

I've managed to get the system stable at the following specs: 4.2 ghz @ 21 x 200 Vcore = 1.3375 Qpi/dram (uncore voltage) - 1.45 ram @ 1600 6-7-6-18 with 1.66v I've tried to go for 4.5 ghz though, but I'm having issues with getting the ram stable I downclocked the cpu to 3 ghz and...

LLC - on or off?

Yeah, he seems to say that it can be a useful tool if you know how to use it. So it's useful for lowering what you have to set your vcore to, or am i misunderstanding it?

6GB of ram only showing 4GB

I'm guessing it's some voltage problem with QPI. I'm at 4ghz now, and it's only detecting 2gb of ram now with 1.2975 v core and 1.4 qpi voltage. not sure what to tweak to get teh ramz back

6GB of ram only showing 4GB

that option is off by default. if i check it, it goes up to 4GB. In bios, it also only recognizes 4GB, so I have no idea. would cpu-z recognize a stick if it were defective?

New computer is up and running, but it's only showing 4GB in task manager on windows xp 64 bit. However, In cpu-z, it's showing 6GB. Is this just an issue with 64bit?

do you need to reformat when you change video drivers?

What about quantum entanglement? It's possible the corrupted driver data was transferred to every SSD that currently exists. Guess I'll have to wait for post-SSD storage :{

I purchased 2 intel x25-m 80gb and am planning to raid 0 them. However, I'm going to be using a 4850 until fermi comes out, at which point I'll have to get different video drivers. Would it be best to reformat, or would simply removing them suffice?

As far as I know, there's no support for TRIM in raid 0 configs. However, would the fact that they're in raid 0 make them faster than a 160GB with trim after it's been used a lot?

What do you mean by the P6T being a finicky board? I'm curious because I plan on getting it with an i7 920 with plans to OC to around 4.2 ghz.

Well, I have $0 worth of video card because I'm waiting for nvidia to release theirs before I make my decision. But I would have around a $1200 budget for graphics cards alone. Would the 12GB be useful for programs like 3D Max or Maya?

velociraptors in raid 0 vs SSD

As I understand it, the worst possible case of deterioration occurs once the whole drive has been filled up once over, right? But normal HDs experience deterioration as well, right (data has to be stored closer to the center, it has to move more to read it?).

Yeah, it would be 64 bit Windows 7. However, I looked around some yesterday at benchmarks with games, and apparently there's no difference from 3 to 6 to 12 GB of memory on any game, so I'll just stick with 6.

velociraptors in raid 0 vs SSD

I'm stuck between these options. It would most likely be the Intel x25-m 160 GB. Are there any other SSDs that would be good for games? Also, I'm not really sure about how different SSDs are from normal HDD. Do you have to use them differently than normal HDs to maintain a longer lifetime?

What questions would you ask? I put in an order for one at microcenter before learning about d0 and c0. I still have to go pick it up though. Is there anything I can do to ensure I get a d0, or any way I can tell what type it is from the box?
