  1. Need help with Supermicro LGA 1366 Board

Supermicro 1366 motherboards by default only output video on the onboard VGA port, even if you have a video card installed. You have to actually connect a monitor to the onboard VGA port long enough to get in bios and initially configure to output video to the PCIE-16x slot. I understand you...

Just something a friend of mine stumbled across trying to buy a AMD card. This is the nvidia section. So anyone here trying to actually buy one of the new nvidia cards, I hope this helps. http://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/nvidia/

I heard a lot of people (Somewhere even in this thread) said it was on the 7'th. EDIT: Right here. So NDA's been off for nearly 12 days and hardly no info.
  6. NVIDIA Pascal Thread

So where are all the GTX-1060 "full reviews" based on review samples sent to all these different hardware sites to do reviews for us? The NDA's been lifted for 11 days (12 if you count today) and the retail versions are going to the stores here in a couple days and I can't find solid...

So... GTX 1080, $699.99 founder's edition, aftermarket as low as $619 GTX 1070.. founders edition $449, aftermarket as low as $399.99 So far that's -$80 off reference for 1080, and -$50 off for 1070... so I wonder what board partners will offer for aftermarket 1060's.. possibly hitting the...

To each their own end goals.. for me I want a system (running windows 7 preferably) that can still run older DirectX-8 and 9 games and all the modern games as well. Ultimately I want an SLI setup that can be powerful enough for all the new games and as a side benefit I'll be able to force stupid...

Either edit the profile yourself directly with nvidia control panel, or use 3rd party software like nvidia inspector (which lets you edit a lot of things for a game's profile that is hidden in the control panel) and flipping through different SLI modes (there's more than one), sometimes forcing...
  10. NVIDIA Pascal Thread

It's all about the person using the situation. SLI's not really something you just "plug in and load drivers and go play". That may work for.. 60% of games but if we know what we're doing and willing to manually tune the SLI profiles, we can actually get near 90% of PC games to run using SLI and...

I'm not sure you're understanding. It would take 50 of those bulbs on a card to even use 1 watt of power. And it looks like most cards have like what, 5? 8? maybe 15 of em? 15 would be 0.3 watts used. Really, LED's or not should not even remotely be anything that you consider in a video card...
  13. NVIDIA Pascal Thread

I was told by a couple different folks I know from other forums that usually "dig deep" in to the bios of different nvidia cards at the hex level. And I was told that nvidia permanently limits the voltage of pretty much the entire 700 line up of cards to 1.212v And nothing can change that. Not...

I'm trying to wrap my head around why anyone would care about power consumption when discussing overclocking. The very nature of overclocking causes power usage to increase exponentially as an after effect. And anyone overclocking anything understands this. With some video cards and some...
  15. NVIDIA Pascal Thread

You learned this from one of the motherboard companies? I'd like to know for the future.
  16. NVIDIA Pascal Thread

It depends on the system. If you use a 950 Pro on Z97 / Haswell system, I think it will limit you to one video card (No SLI), and even then will drop the single video card down to 8x. I think if you try and use 950 with SLI on two video cards it will disable all of the onboard sata ports and...

Is anyone else completely under-whelmed by the 1080 performance? I don't know what I was expecting but I sure expected a heck of a lot more than what we got. And the overclocks are misreable.. most of the cards only managing +120 to +170 Mhz OC? I guess the days of GTX 960's and 970's doing...

Just to clear it up for you. If you want haswell for some reason, yes haswell has full PCIE-16x-3.0 for the entire GTX 1070 line. For that matter, so does Z68 systems, And P67 systems. With a PCIE 3.0 CPU. All 3 systems will also run PCIE-3.0 8x-8x for SLI too.
  19. NVIDIA Pascal Thread

I know this is an old argument but there's a lot that PC's can do that consoles can not... specifically 4k @ 60 FPS with two 1080's. And we have to compare them to the older cards. How else would we know if they're even any faster / an upgrade at all? It all depends on what you determine "run...
  20. NVIDIA Pascal Thread

Yeah.. if it's on and running and water contacts it, and contacts dust on the surface of it, then it'll just fry the thing instantly, or in 1-15 seconds or so. Backplate or not won't matter. Although if you have a solid-metal backplate with no holes, you -may- get lucky and something leak onto...
  21. NVIDIA Pascal Thread

no.. it's not a water-proofing and has nothing to do with it. It would still short it out and most likely fry it and ruin it. Although I suppose if it's a *small* bit of water and it was a solid backplate like EK-Web sells, it might prevent water contact, if you caught it fast. But these...

It adds structural support to the GPU (makes it more rigid) to help prevent sag on longer, heavy cards. Also it aids in cooling to the back-side mounted ram chips. Could you please check the article you listed? I'm getting 404 trying to view your link there.

Actually quite a lot of people do. Why do you think the titans and 1080's sell out as soon as they're available for sale. Some people even invest in 1080 SLI, then upgrade in to 1080 Ti SLI as soon as they come out, then upgrade again in to Titan SLI as soon as those are here. I know a few...

It's an early pre-release non-review sample for computex show. It's only there to run benchmarks at it's defined default speeds and/or games at default speeds and that's all. No voltage control that works, power limit (as said) is capped at +7%, etc, etc. Probably doesn't have a final bios on it...

This is all highly confusing... so Jayz and the other reviewers out there... (that have been doing this sort of stuff for quite a while now) some how all of them get throttling problems but you don't? Are you running em with the fans manually set to 80% or something?

I'm sort of in that boat. Sitting on a single GTX 770 4GB card and rather low income.. so I'm keeping a close eye on pascal and waiting out to see what the $200 GTX 1060 is like.. a friend of mine is supposed to give me a pair of sexy great-OC'ing 970's but I'm watching pascal performance anyway...

I think you haven't read any of the reviews posted on the previous page then. The default founders edition is s--- and junk and if you see these other reviews that do a "Default test" of just running it without manually increasing the fan for it, then it's going to score low and look less...

  38. NVIDIA Pascal Thread

It's already been documented and proven by Jayztwocents that the founders edition cards run +25c hotter, even solo on a open air test bench with no other cards around em. Even shown in real time in a video how hot they run. And another video for the ACX one running -25c cooler. Both of them...
