Its back up, they have about another 100 available. It will run out again when it hits 750 (500 yesterday and another 250 were authorized today at noon)
Actually flash drives are known to get slow when they start to get full. The Vertex LE is only 100gb because it keeps 20% of the space is reserve to keep performance up as the drive ages and as it gets full
MM went ahead and shipped me out the extra screws. I still went ahead and ordered over $20 in screws on my own so that I could replace all the silver screws with black ones.
I painted the silver tapered screws face with gloss black paint so that it matched the rest of the case.
I still...
You can mount them and way you like.
I received my MM case yesterday and after starting to set it up I noticed a couple of minor issues. After emailing them about the issues the response I received has led me to never do any business with them again. And I wanted to get the extended...
Raid 6 only costs you one third of you storage space. where as a raid 10 setup costs you 50%. All my large storage arrays have been raid 5 or 6.
When I do an array with 8 or 12 HD's its rather costly to run a raid 10 array
Well it supports raid 6 so get at least 4 HD's and run raid 6. this way should a drive drop out you can still drop 1 more before you have a data loss issue
Ah, I remember STEP ThermoDynamics very well. You probably could not cool a NB/SB with one of the cooler on those chips.
I do miss my Dual Celly setups. I set one up as a workstation computer in the onair booth at the radio station I was the chief engineer for. Just when MP3 were starting...
Currently an i7 950 underwater, and the new rig under construction will be an i7 980x. have a couple of core 2 duo's and some dual quad xeons running around as well
It really depends on what level raid and what raid card you are going to use. Many high end cards have a list of fully supported drives. The high end cards can be a PIA when using a non approved drive. Most onboard RAID is much less of a problem when picking drives
If you are running your ram at stock voltages then there really is no need. If you were doing some crazy OC's and really pushing the limits on the memory then you might actually need them and even then with some air flowing over them you probably could get away with out them.
They are 99%...
It was very tempting at $279. I have abot 5 or 6 Failed Raptors. The old 74Gb 3.5" units that are under warranty till like 2012 so I am waiting to see if they add them to the step up site so I can just trade the warranty on my 74GB drive for a new 600gb with a discount. If I can snag a couple...
No, that just the old 74gb drive, it would be too tall for a laptop. It was replaced by the 150 & 300 GB series. And now those are being replaced by the 400 and 600GB versions
Correct. I have not even bothered checking my Intel drivers yet. They are the old ones, I don't really use them as my 4320 raid card is what I run my SSD's on for this rig. I just plugged in the Drive to test it while I wait for the other parts to start the build on the new one.
EDIT: My...
I guess WD stepped up the release. Maybe they are afraid with all the second gen SSD's coming out and the prices dropping that the would be better to release now then later.
Oh and jimhsu, the Vertex LE does amazing with the seq. rate. It smokes my 4 MasterDrive SSD array with just a single...
I have not really played with it yet other then a couple Benchs as I purchased it for my new build as the primary drive. I picked up 5 60GB Turbo's for the APP drive on the new build as well.
I was not willing to wait on the realssd and its problems so I picked up the vertex LE 100gb. The sanforce drives look to be much more stable and almost as fast
I picked up one of the 100gb LE's as well and plugged it into my rig for some out of the box testing and even with the old intel drivers it did amazing
Well I was able to get the fans for a decent price, but since the case is clear and they will be mounted in the front where they are very visable I wanted a fan that would not be LOUD but also a decent amount of air. Since these are clear I think they will fit well with the overall look of the...
So I just ordered 9 of the TK-122 fans (Medium Speed) and 3 feser 360 rads. So the three rads will be mounting to the front of my Mountain Mods case is it better to run these fans as a push or a pull configuration? Cause I am sure as hell not running them as push/pull. 9 of them already cost...
I have on order a Ascension Crystal Ship CYO. I went with the trinity front and horizon 10 pci back. I am thrown the eVGA classified 4x SLI board in it with three 360 rads and three seperate loops. all tubing and fittings will be black and the led lighting will be red with some UV for effect
Theone thing that that the raptor has over the SSD's are the write limits and degraded performance in raid with SSD's over time. Until TRIM support is enabled with raid the SSD's in my raid array are limited in what I write to them (I do not use them for caching or temp files) so I do not need...
I guess I will be waiting to see the prices on these new units. I currently use 2 300gb in raid 0 for my secondary drive. I DL my torrents and compressed files to it as well as use it as a caching drive. It does great when you have to unzip a 10gb compressed file.
But it can not hold a...
You really are not paying the extra $$ for the factory OC but for a better chip that was pulled from the center. The FTW series gets the best chips so you have a better chance of a higher OC with it.
You can run the WD Black long as you have the update firmware and make a little tweak so that it does not show the drive as offline every so often causing the array to have to rebuild
I have 2 300gb WD VR's running raid 0 as my secondary drive with my i7 build and they have been working great the last 8 or so months.
Having the drive fail within 10 days makes me think it was a Defect during production.
We are not insane, we just value quality. Already have the x58 Classified 4x SLI being delivered tomorrow for the 4 480 Hydros when they are released. And the Mountain Mods Crystal Ship case with required tray being built now.
So someone find me a pre order..PLEASE
Anyone know if it shortens the HD life any noticable amount by keeping it spinning? I have mine set to spin down on my arrays after 2 hours of non access. I am not worried about power, but I figured the WD VR's in a raid 0 would be better off if they were not spinning at 10k all the time.
I am about to do this with my SSD raid Array. I have 4 128gb SSD's in raid 0 and want to upgrade the Firmware on the SSD's so I am going to use 0&0 Diskimage to create an image on an external 1TB drive and then make the boot CD with the raid drivers for my Highpoint card so that I can load the...
Damn, I just purchased a LWRC REPR 20" today, so can't buy 2 .308 rifles in one day. But it is a sick deal and only 2 left as of this post. My next purchase other then a 12" upper for my REPR is probably a HK MP5SD once I have my trust setup to buy it.
The notebook drives are for the OS. I am currently running 1TB Samsung F1 Raid Edition drives for the storage array so I think they can handle raid 5 just fine
I want the OS of the disks so that the Raid array can be 100% seperate from the OS, making it easier to deal with a failed drive. This way all 4 drives can be a single raid 5 array, no OS read/writes will effect the raid array performance, etc etc.
USB is just a bad choice for a windows OS...
