Time to upgrade from 1156?

Thanks for the suggestions all - I was kind of leaning that way with trying to 'guestimate' using performance charts and benchmarks, but since I'm running my chip way over stock, it's hard to guess.

What p55 mb stays at sata3 with SLI?

Thanks Ichinisan - someone thought the asus p55pro somethingorother that uses a different controller than the special ed gigabyte that puts pci-e, sata3, and usb3 on the same bloody channel so they can't all be used at once....

Is 460watt load ok for 520watt psu?

Yes, I have a kill-a-watt that I'm measuring from the main power cord to the wall, 460 watts, under load, for the entire system. I'm SLI'ing two gtx460's and IIRC tom's site had that draw at 319.

Is 460watt load ok for 520watt psu?

My system is running globally at 460 watts when bf3'ing on my SLI rig with a corsair hx520w power supply. The 12v rail is supposed to handle 480 watts, combined, so it should be ok, but is this too close to the max? I mean... it's 460 watts running bf3 and 150 watts at rest, so I assume it's...

What p55 mb stays at sata3 with SLI?

I have a gigabyte p55a-ud4p rev1 board and through trials found that the marvell controller drops from sata3 to sata1 speed when running SLI. Are there any p55 boards out there with sata3 that will keep it up with SLI?

Battlefield 3 official performence/fps thread

Hey all - trying to understand how server ping / lag affect decision to upgrade video or not. I'm playing 1080 with gtx460, 4gb ram, i5-750. What would be the best thing to upgrade? (ssd is on it's way... thanks black friday)

Gigabyte p55a-ud4p w/ scythe mugen 2?

I'm in process of a new build and researching coolers - anyone know if the scythe mugen 2 will fit with this MB (enough ram clearance)? I was also checking out the coolermaster 212 which seems a touch smaller, but the scythe was 6'c cooler according to the 'other' website :D

Do you find it harder to justify upgrading these days?

LOL - I just pulled the trigger on a i5 750, moving up from my opy 170 @ 2.75... that old system is generally about 5 years old now, but in the past, I'm sure 3 years would have been max. I'm mostly upgrading because my 8800 is bottlenecked by the processor and I can find a cheapy 8800...
