How do I remove onboard sound drivers in registry?

I just got done working on a K7s5a board and you can easily disable the onboard sound in Setup.

Does Exchange Server require Active Directory?

Exchange 2K does require AD, but if you are already playing with AD, I say go for it. We run 5.5, but I set up 2K on a test server and it integrates with AD well. I haven't had much time to play with it, but it seems pretty cool.

New Win2k Server Question...

yes, a user can log onto a Win2k server that is running AD with an NT workstation, no problem.....also, native mode only refers to the domain controllers---native mode requires that the domain controllers all be 2000, but member servers or workstations can be NT, 98, etc...a mixed mode domain...

Computer GURU's ONLY! (Backup question)

Basically, if you want a fresh install, the best thing to do is back up your data files, format the drive how you want it, do a clean OS install, re-install your apps and restore your documents and data from the backup. If you don't want to resize or reformat your partitiions, you can install...

I too use the loofa---i definitely feel cleaner after using the loofa than i did with just bar soap...and i'm not hung up on whether or not it's manly...it's just more functional...

PLEA FOR HELP: Still no post after bios setting changes (A7V)

This is a long shot, but have you tried a different stick of ram? I had a similar situation and it ended up being a flaky stick of ram that was the culprit.

i have some kind of file compression problem i need help with

drvspace is an older Microsoft compression tool that was used in DOS when hard drives were small. No wonder you are having trouble. Did you actually use drvspace to compress some files? Or was it just installed? I wish I could tell you how to fix your problem, but nothing occurs to me right...

Need help flashing BH6 bios (Answered thanks to Emjem & Todd R)

When you are on Abit's website and click on BIOS updates, a smaller pop up screen will appear with a link that shows the proper steps for updating your BIOS. It's really pretty easy---just follow the instructions and make certain that you don't lose power while flashing the BIOS. Good luck :D

KDS VS-190 19" monitor for $199 at Office Depot

We have about 20 of these monitors at work and all have been fine--no problems with them and decent quality. There definitely are better monitors out there, but for $199, this is a good monitor. Just my .02

Will W2K Pro work with my new Abit KT7A-Raid MB????

Your board will work perfectly fine as long as you use load the appropriate drivers..I just built a system using the KT7Raid and a 1ghz Tbird....running Win2K awesome...hope you enjoy.

Is IT tech business worth while in the future? Is it a stable and financially steady career? Please offer advice/input

My advice is do what you want to do. If you opt for a career in IT, don't worry, jobs will be there. Technology is not going away, it is only becoming more pervasive---even with a bunch of .coms going down the tubes and some other tech based companies taking hits. It's not only .coms, etc...

HP CD-Writer Plus 8200i Not working!

What is your current setup? How is the CDRW set up? Secondary master or slave? What are your current bios settings? Did the CDRW work before you had hard drive trouble or is it a new drive?

I'm contemplating the unthinkable - WinME!!!

I've been dual booting ME with 2K for about 2 months and it has worked pretty well--I haven't had any real problems with it besides a couple of lockups. In fact, for me it has been more stable than 98. Good luck.

Win 2K Users: Spill your thoughts about this OS!

I build and support systems at work and Win 2K is definitely both more stable and secure. The PnP is good and driver support, at least for my needs, has been more than adequate. However, I can't vouch for it's performance with games, as I'm not much of a gamer. I have been pleasantly...

HOTT (with 2 t's): 100 overburn cd-rs for $15

I got a couple of spindles of the PNYs a week or so ago and have burnt approximately 30 or so CDs with only one coaster (and that was my fault). I was using an old Memorex 2x burner and, for the most part, EZCD Creator 4 (Nero 5 for a couple). I don't know how well they are going to hold up...

Is anyone switching from Windows 98 to Windows Me?

I have it on one system and it runs ok--haven't had any problems with it....it really isn't significantly better than 98SE in any way that I can determine....and it is a resource hog.....just my .02
