I've done some googling but none of the result I found really helped. Yes there are tools to reflash the BIOS outside of the actual PC. But it's going to cost.. might as well bite the bullete and get a new one... Some solution involvs knowing somebody who has exactly the same mobo.... What's...

Hi all, So I have a Vintage V2-M2A690G barebone system. Or so I believed. It was purchased 2007 and the BIOS version was 0503. Reason I say I believe is that when I tried downloaded v2-M2A690G BIOS (0801) and tried to upgrade with it with built in EZ flash, it told me it doesn't match the...

AMD 690G + Portal = problem

I've just got a new 690G (ATI 1250) based PC. I tried to play the Portal game on it. The initial screens are OK but once I start any movement the screen go crazy as if it was dragged. Anybody else has similar problem? OS is XP SP2. Thanks,

Any suggestion for a budget video card? I don't do a lot of gaming. I run Linux so would like to stay away from ATI. Is the 6200 series any good?

Hello all, I am having a problem with my ideq 200v system. It is old I know and it's been working perfectly for me for over a year now. It is only in the past week that I've noticed this problem. Bacially, I have a Gainward 5700 in the AGP slot and the fan on the video card is not moving...

Every font? Some font renders OK for me. But others are just ugly. Could you share your X configuration?

Linux + TFT experienc?

Anybody here running Linux on a DVI TFT? Care to share your experience? Reason why I ask is that my new TFT (Viewsonice VX715) doesn't look too good under Linux. It is very good under Windows. But under linux the font rendering is really not that greate.

Viewsonic VX715: No DVI output, why?

Just got my Viewsonic VX715. Hooked up with my Gainward FX 5700 and can only get output from analog output, which doens't look too good. Is there anything else I need to configure? I bought the "Belkin Cable/Pro Digital Video DVIM-M Sgnlink 3m" with it. That's the right one isn't it?

where are those settings? I can only find PAL/NTSC setting in the system BIOS.

19 inch TFT for video

Thanks for the input. I'd agree with you. If space(and weight) is not the problem, I definitely would go with a top of the range 20+ CRT instead. But thanks all the same.

Planning to get a 19 inch TFT. Gaming doesn't really matter to me. But I do intend to watch some video/movie. Do I have to go for a 12ms one or can I make do with a 25ms one? I can get a pretty good deal on Samsung 910N but the only thing is that it is 25ms. Thanks for any input...

I am not going to play the latest and greatest 3D games. I used to have 3D acceralation for my 8500 when 2.4.x and Xfree 4.3 was there. And that was good enough for me.

sunner: I don't know much about the KM400 chipset (well, I don't know much about the nVidia IGP either) But I'd imagine that the Geforece 4 MX graphics are better than the VIA UniChrome 2D/3D (is that even supported by Linux?)

It is better than ATI anyway. I own a ATI AIW 8500DV and their drivers is crap. That is the main reason I want to get a new box.

All, As the title asks, what is the equivelant performance of an iBook to an intel/amd based laptop? I currently own an Sony Vaio with Duron 700 + 128 RAM. Say I was to buy a iBook with 1G + 256RAM. Am I expecting a big performance gain, experience wise? Any input welcomed. Thanks,
