With the death of the Video Wonder, will ATI ever come out with a fully hardware-handled MPEG2 card so I can make my own TIVO with a modest CPU (<1GHz)?
A nextgen ALL-IN-WONDER would add:
- Full hardware mpeg2 encode/decode.
- Programmable support for other codecs like mpeg4/divx would be...
Someone offered me this possible deal:
$250: Pentium 3, 1 GHz, slot 1
$120: 512MB (1/2GB!) of RDRAM (don't know the speed yet)
So for me to make a system out of the above, I'll need a slot 1 motherboard that can use RDRAM. I came up with the Aopen AX6C-L, which got pretty good marks, only costs...
