>If it were 98/ME I would definitely reinstall but what about XP
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________-
If anything, Win98 is more forgiving than XP of hardware upgrades, not less.
>Also, XP is like win2k and win NT. it doesnt like being second. it is a very good idea to install XP first and then ME after.

Don't you have that backwards??
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong catagory, but I wasn't sure where to post it.
I have always used scsi burners so I'm not familiar with how burn-proof works. I will be installing a Sony ide burner in my brothers system with burn-proof.
Can I just install the burner & Nero 5.5.5.0, or does...
Dell laptops definitely like XP.
My Inspiron 8000 works great with XP 2600. For me, the W2K drivers all worked fine, but I have a Geforce2go & a Synaptics touchpad.

Don't waste your time, it sucks anyway

One of the last anyway :-)
I recently installed an Audigy EX with XP RC2600 as a clean install.
The Audigy drivers & surround mixer installed fine & work great. Playcenter would not install at all for me. I get an eror & it exits everytime I try to install it.
Creative recorder installed, but gives an error when I try...
>It's good, not great. You'll have better performance using the 9x series.

I agree. Although I am using XP RC2600, I am still dual booting with Win98SE for the...
LOL,
I learned a long time ago to do a "print screen" of my desktop & the contents of my programs folder before a format.
I save the images to a 2nd hard drive. Looking at them later makes it a LOT easier to remember what to reinstall.
I have recently been having problems using this setup. My Plextor 12/4/32 scsi burner started to make coasters which it had never done before ever.
I have burned over 3000 CD's in W2K with the same setup & never a single problem. I finally realized that CloneCD would work fine if I slow the...
Actually, I couldn't get Ghost 2001 to work with XP at all, although some people say it worked for them using FAT32.
I have an X-15 Cheetah with two equal partitions. The first is Win98SE (FAT32) & the second is XP Corporate (NTFS). I BU the entire disc to a 2nd HD every couple of days.
When...
It's not free, but the latest version of Norton Internet Security works great in XP & it also blocks ads rather well.
I always used ZoneAlarm before, but had nothing but trouble with it in XP.
>What would you do?

Install W2K a 2nd time of course.
Depends what games you are playing.
All new games should run fine in XP, some older ones won't.
I recently switched from a Radeon 64meg VIVO to a Gainward GF3 because I was sick & tired of tweaking & changing ATI drivers trying to get all my sons many games to work all at once.
I also dual...
>errm PM7 doesnt support winxp? it says on powerquest's website it does

I supports it, it just doesn't work very well.
I have used PM for years now & never before had a single...
>As far as I am aware NTFS under w2k and XP are the same.
No, there not. XP has a new version of ntfs. Ghost 2001 worked fine with the W2K version, it doesn't work with the XP version although the newest version of Drive Image does.
