Create a new string value called "Default Password" without the quotes.
Doubleclick on it and set the data field to your password.
That works on my WinMe.
If you've got the .reg file, just double-click it. You should have a new property sheet in display properties/settings/advanced/nvidia that allows hardware adjustment.
Does your heatsink have feet like the PEP66? If not, it may not be sitting flush to the CPU. On the flip-chips, normal PPGA heatsinks must be carefully positioned or they won't help much.
