Whats is better PC100-222 or PC133-333?

It depends on the bus speed of your processor. CAS2 PC-anything is faster than CAS3 PC-anything everytime. The PC100 and PC133 are only ratings saying that a stick of memeroy can handle teh throughput of 100MHz or 133MHz. It makes ZERO difference in terms of anything except total bandwidth...

Way to make file server not take IP addy?

My roommate and I are running a network for network gaming and we share a cable modem through a 10/100 hub (cable co is nice enough to give to IPs free :)). My roommate uses my printer and just prints over the network, but when he does that my machine (running Win2k) slows down signifigantly...

Holy cow.... :Q Just looking at the most active over at Instinet and most of them are down >20%. What's worse is I own 4 of the top 10! :(:(:( This is just ugly... Nasdaq should open about 150 points lower tomorrow. I bet it drops more than 250... :(

Need some help moving from 98 to 2k, so simple config questions

There is no msconfig as far as I know (at elast that I have found). There is a limited util similar to ipconfig. Load up the command prompt (start->programs->accessories->command prompt) and type 'ipconfig' at the prompt.

Golden Orb Question

Your golden orb didn't come with thermal compund on the back?? There should be a white square on the bottom of the orb. That is GOOD thermal paste, so leave it there. If you don't have it, than you definitely need to add some. But like Pete said, don't use a golden orb on a duron.

You should be able to copy things like Favorites and documents no problems, but anything more than that you will probably start running into hidden/system files, etc.

reinstalling win98 in a dual boot system

Or once you install Win98, boot from teh Win2k CD and choose repair. Tell it to do quick repair and tell it to inspect/repair the boot sector. It will fix itself.

NTFS 4.0 Partitions With Win2K

Not sure if that is right. I seem to remember not being able to read NTFS4 drives when I upgraded. Maybe NT4 couldn't see drives created in Win2k. Can't remember now... :o

You probably aren't goign to get jack done unless you log into your administrator account. If you can't remember your administrator account password, then you are screwed and there is nothing to do except reinstall. Unless you have another account with administrator rights. I almost hesitate...

**Major Questions About RAID & Win2k**

No that is wrong. The modded promise cards won't be recognized in Win2k by the setup program. Promise had a workaround posted a few months ago, but they have since removed it from their website for whatever reason. Fortuneately I have a hard copy. :) YGM. :)

Win2000 Pro for Pentium 233 MMX?

If you are going to be using this machine alot, I would stick with Win98. But if you just want to use it as a file server/ICS box than it will work fine. My ICS server is a P133 w/ 64MB of RAM. :)
