Dual Booting and DHCP - is that my problem?

Looking for a creative Linux Distro

Mint is basically Ubuntu without Unity. It ships with plenty of different desktop environments, I like KDE myself. The beauty of free operating systems is that you get to try them out, see if you like them, no loss. Using them in VirtualBox makes it super-easy if you have the RAM and the disk space.

Completely unresponsive to mouse/keyboard

The system is crashing, as evidenced by its automatic hard shutdown 20 minutes (maybe less in some cases) after the freeze. Yes, both the keyboard and mouse are USB - it doesn't have any PS/2 ports.

Windows and Linux can be installed either in UEFI mode (GPT formatted) or in BIOS mode (MBR formatted), from my understanding. If I install them to a 2 TB drive in BIOS mode, will I be able to add a larger hard drive down the road and have partitions of greater than 2 TB on that larger drive?

That's what I tried to do. The other computer wouldn't boot at all with it hooked up as a secondary. That's why I'm concerned that the drive might have gone bad all of a sudden.

Do you need an Antivirus in Linux?

I don't "need" to run ClamAV, but I added it to runlevel 5 and Linux still boots up much faster than my Windows XP partition. :)

Could be. But I haven't upgraded my Windows video drivers in a long time, and I'm running plain-jane XP. Under Linux, I'm running KDE with compositing.
