how to discard a dead monitor?

i have a monitor that is not working any more? does anyone know if there is specific procedure of discarding/recycling electronic parts? or do people just throw them away like trash?

ISP structure/server software questions

if i am to take a server's specified I/O throughput in Gbps, and divide it by the typical 56kbps bandwidth a narrowband user needs to estimate the maximum number of user served concurrently, would that be way off? similarly, if make the same calculation for a router's throughput, would that work?

Duron 800 guaranteed at 1GHz+ that just won't do 1GHz. What's holding me back?

my tbird 750 only reaches 850 even when i point a big fan and up the voltage. i used a pencil. so that's my thinking that the pencil connection is kinda lousy...

using laptop screen and monitor of the dock at the same time?

the setup here is a little different though. cos the dock is put next to the monitor. so that's why itd be really nice to make both of the screens work together. although the fn-f8 trick doesn't seem to work here when the monitor is plugged into the dock. perhaps only works when directly...

hi there, anyone knows of any way that allows me to use both the laptop screen and the monitor attached to the dock when i dock my laptop? that is, two screens showing different stuff. the laptop is a dell latitude using a ATI Rage Mobility chip that doesn't have features like TwinView...

how to overclock MX beyond 220/210?

oh i mean that in the display settings in the control panel, there is this slide bars for speed adjustment in core and memory, and the max is 220/210. so i couldn't slide the bars any further to the right.

i am using a leadtek geforce2mx, and i overclock the card when i play games. but how do i overclock beyond 220mhz core and 210mhz memory? that's the maximum i can set with the detonator 6.31 driver from nvidia.

pctel drivers ?

i don't know if its just my winmodem is crappy or something else, but sometimes the connection just freezes, meaning nothing can be sent or received, for a minute and then back to normal after that. it happens once every hour or so. well.

Image Flickering in games?!

i am sorry if i put my suggestion the wrong way. but running icq in the background gives me flickering when i play games. and cos turning vsync on didn't work for me, so that's just another suggestion.

Which Geforce 2 MX to get??

i have a leadtek. it has a fan and heatsink on the chip. i oc the card 220/210 every time i play games. well yeah its not noticeable if its faster or not to me, but the hsf is not a bad feature.

Geforce2 GTS stutter, Need Help (SOLVED!)

i kinda have the same problem with an mx card, but only in one game, ultima ix. every 2, 3 second or so, there's a pause. no idea what's happening at all.

Macs running at 733mhz coming!

but we got to admit, pcs look hideously ugly. nothing elegant like the macs. those new supposedly hip curvy designs by compaq, etc. after imac came out is even worse than the old biege box. of course we won't deny that performancewise pcs are better.

Dad wants to get a laptop, and I know NOTHING about lagtops.

i can't deal with those little red thing that for example ibm has, touchpad are less painful to deal with for me. though mouse is the best.

Can a Laptop Computer really replace a Desktop Computer?

the laptop i have at work, uses a 4200rpm ibm dara and a 650mhz pentium, cpu's totally fine. but the drive is the bottleneck. portability of laptop is great, as long as its some better drive that you have in the laptop.

about that bug with WinME and hard drives (IBM 75's) and fast cpu's...

so if there's this microsoft patch, what's all that talk about having to low level format the drive and then apply some other patch? my old 75gxp was rma'ed a week ago, and i just received the replacement today, so definitely want to make sure that i have done my part to avoid any potential...

what movies do not work for you? me, keeping the faith just refuses to play totally. sometimes have problems with out of sight. i just wonder if its certain type of dvd type- layered, whatever, that's causing the trouble.

MX overclocking results too good to be true?!

I use a Leadtek Winfast GeForce2 MX. i overclocked the gpu to 220mhz and the memory to 210mhz and it suprisingly (to me at least) doesn't crash on me. i touched the back of the board and it feels warm. it has the factory heatsink and fan on it. does these speeds work on other MX cards...

dvd drive gives clicking sound when trying to play movie

when a dvd video disc is put into my drive, sometimes it plays totally fine. for others though, it gives out clicking sound and sounds like its having trouble seeking and reading. i have one disc that just refuses to play in the drive, which is a Panasonic (Mashita) SR-8586. windows can't...

A7V Bios 1005A

i live in san francisco, and asus probe told me the tbird 750 temp is now 51c with 1005a. b4 its like 48c with 1004c, or further down without heat. and some rumor says now in 1005a the multiplier setting can be adjusted in the bios. is that true or not?
