And wasn't there some big thing a couple of years ago where you could just set your phone down on this table that was a controller thing and kind of control it...play music, send files to and from it etc?

Google talk allows for completely free calling to US numbers, something you have to pay for in skype, and it also allows for the addition of credits and equally as cheap rates as skype. Just because there are faster computers available doesn't mean everyone is using a super fast computer...a lot...

I used to really like skype, but lately I've been preferring google talk a) because I don't have to run a separate program, it's already in my browser b) because it uses fewer system resources than a similar skype call, and is also less sensitive to network blips and c) because IMO the sound...

Why do people recommend MBAM over SAS?

That would depend entirely on application..if you mostly have a clean system, aside the those dubious cookies, then sure...maybe. Why not? If you have a system that's totally borked cause it's got tons of malware, just one isn't going to be enough usually, and SAS isn't infallible, it misses...

What's a good file recovery program?

This was exactly what I was going to recommend. My friend spent a semester abroad and then the day she got back deleted all of her pics accidently...so I used this to restore them all.

"Best" media player for Windows?

Don't watch "pr0n" so I don't need to be able to rewatch the "good" bits over and over. If I turn on a movie I'll watch it start to finish. I hadn't heard of potplayer until I ran across this thread...I'll have to check it out. I'm by no means an "MPC-HC" evangelist...it's just what I use...

I've seen ccleaner seriously borke a system. It was really bad and required an entire reinstall of the OS to fix. There are no pros...that's why people say don't do it. A "clean" registry doesn't run any quicker or anything than a non-clean one. The only *possible* pro is that it *might* be able...

Was at Fry's today.....YMMV

Maybe the boxes were just too destroyed to get away with selling them as new. I know I'll often see ones with like a few bucks knocked off cause you can tell the package has just been taped back up.
