    I agree with specialed. The shutdown may have just hosed a driver. Try removing all of your adapter cards except video, disconnect the flopy and try installing win98. I'd also recommend yanking all but one of your sticks of ram. EDIT -- Umm, what he said. :)

    Check out Toshiba. The satellite 2800 series is relatively inexpensive and Toshiba's rock. If it ever breaks they are usually fixed in about two days if there is a repair depot in your city. My company sells a ton of Toshiba's to oil companies field guys and they take a beating and keep going.

    You won't have any problems at all with a setup like that. I've setup several systems with 4 monitors using various combinations of video cards w/o a problem. EDIT-- window placement won't be any different with 3 monitors, you just have more space ;)

    I haven't used any Lite-on drives, but I've installed and sold hundreds of HP burners in the last two years and have only had two defective drives. I'd have to say that HP drives have been the best I've ever dealt with. Just my .02
