Spontaneous reboot - possible hard drive troubles?

Gosh, i've that problem too recently :P My old system a duron 700 o/ced to 900 which has been on for nearly 24/7 the past 4 years (minus the periods for maintainance) has been doing these weird reboots lately. I've swapped power supplies (from 350 watts to 450 watts) same thing happens. I've...

I was using the Administrator account when trying to get the service to work. :( The F@H cli works fine. Just can't get it to start as a service.

Soundblaster Problems with Seti

Just restarted Seti recently. And incidentally found out what prompted me to stop it in the first place. With Seti running, I get a crackling sound at regular intervals when playing MP3s. :(

Argg, KMode Exception Error

On Win2k It just throws up an error msg with lots of #s. And the a line KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED or something like that. (will verify the next time i see it lol) And it happens EVERYTIME i run any multimedia stuff heavier than winamp. And even if there's only MP3 on Winamp playing, the...

Sounds silly, but humour me hehe. Using this computer for a personal Web/FTP/IRC/VNC server and mostly play online turn based games as well as some RPGs occasionally. Now, which would be more optimal, 320Mb of ram at PC133 CAS 2 or 448Mb at CAS 3? Using Win2k... and just about the msot...

Athlon power supply question

Check AMD's list of approved power supplies. As long as it provides at least 150 watts on the +5 and 3.3V rails, you should be fine.

Ok, I appreciate the blocks, but .......

Well, OGR's been affected too. It states that i flushed 219 TNodes today and unfortunately, i'm ashamed to say that i've no capability to do 219 TNodes. I only flushed like 2 TNodes today and that was after saving for 2 days or so. My rc5 stats aren't affected though.....

Possible to get one Mega*Byte*/sec on cable?

Well, my cable provider limits download speeds to 1.5Megabits per second which gives about 192 kilobytes per second.

TBird temperature question

gavsyl, i have my Duron 700Mhz@900 @ 1.55V and the temp is exactly he same as yours. Worse since i'm using a lower voltage. Same HSF too, FOP32-1, but using the standard silicon grease for 6 months now.

Socket A peeps, what HSF are ya using?

FOP32 on Duron 700@900mhz FOP38 on TBird 850@950Mhz and Duron 750@950Mhz Alpha Pal 6035 on TBird 850@900Mhz. (57 degrees, still can't figure out what went wrong. Used the thermal grease which came with the alpha and it's mounted perfectly.

Hmm is this really ok?

My thoughts exactly, striker64. Besides, bring the temp down would lengthen it's lifespan. Possible that you could overclock more!

how can you tell good ram chips from bad?

Don't bother about getting the PC150 if you're using those Durons on a KT133 platform.
