thank you!
I was fiddling around trying to find it because I knew I asked this question a long time ago. Just couldn't remember where the option was.
Thank you again :)
I have a Asus HD6870 video card. I updated the AMD display driver to play BF4 today to play on my LG LD450 37" LCD but for some reason after I updated the drivers the screen doesn't stretch out to the corners anymore.
Here's a picture to show what I mean.
Hi guys,
I've been using MKV2AC3 to convert my movies lately and I realized I can use MediaEncoder which utilizes quick sync. I'm trying to convert the DTS sound file to a 5.1 DD or AC3.
It took me 102 minutes to do a 5GB file. It doesn't seem like it was any faster. I'm not sure if it...
I've had the MSI Z77A-GD65 for 9 months and I haven't had any problems with it yet. It was the best board with the most features for the price point I was willing to pay at the time. I don't do any overclocking so not sure how they affects it. I paid $180 - $20 rebate at the time.
I have a Crucial M4 128GB SSD. Windows 7 is installed on it. I also have three Western Digital HD. Two is green and the other one is a black.
For some reason after my computer goes to sleep and I wake it up. None of my WD HD shows up. It's just my SSD. I've already set in the advance settings...
honestly I don't even think I need any more fans. I'm not planning to overclock and maybe adding more fans to it will probably add more noise. Everything seems to be running cool already but if I can get it cooler and even more quiet then that would be better.
Those prices don't really apply to...
What kind of fans do you recommend? I was thinking of getting another 120mm in the front for intake and another 140mm on the top for exhaust? Would that be a good setup?
Ok here are the results
Right click on the app and picked extreme stress mode. Like you said it appear to be locked up but it was running. I forgot to set the number of threads to 4 on this test. It default to All.
Here is one in STANDARD
In HIGH
Don't know what to say here. I was...
Here's an update on my temps running IBT
Does anyone know how to set up the Lucid Virtu feature. I tried google but couldn't find much information on how to set it up properly on the MSI Z77A-GD65. What I'm trying to do is use the Intel IGP for most of my use and have it switch to my HD 6870...
I set it to High and adjusted the thread to 4. Set the Times to run to 5.
Finish the test and run it successfully. Temps 60 C
Did another test with Times to run 10: Here's what I got so far. Running hotter than my first test it seems.
edit: Here's the result of the test
Can someone tell me...
My first time using Intel Burn Test. Not sure how to go about this but can someone help me with the settings? What stress level should I set it at? How many "Times to Run"?
Don't really want to mess up and get my CPU fried.
Well I just tried reapplying the thermal paste and ran out of the stuff paste mid-way lol. So I tried some other thermal paste I had lying around. It was from Vantec. Not even sure where I got it from but it's a white paste compared to the grey thermal paste that came with the cooler.
I tried...
Thanks I'll try that out tomorrow.
What I meant when I said it is pretty hot is probably because of the new computer. If I have everything turned off my room is a couple a degrees higher than room temperature.
Also those temps are just from browsing the net and installing Diablo 3.
I guess I'll try it again. At tips on how I should apply it? I've watched a few YouTube videos and I've been using the pea size method.

Not sure what the temperature in my room but I'll say it's pretty hot compared to the rest of my house. I think it's because of the computer and other electronics I have in the room.
I'm using the two stock 120mm fans in the Fractal Design R3 no additional fans.
Well I reapplied the thermal...
Just put together a i5 3570k with my Hyper 212+ CPU cooler. I used the thermal paste that came with the cooler. Not sure if it made difference but I'm getting pretty high temps. This was my first build but I have taken apart a whole computer and put them back together before. I've also replaced...
I'm reinstalling mine right now and I noticed when taking off the 212+ the cooler did rotate a bit. Anyways from what I read my temps should be at 25-30 C but I'm getting 42-48 on idle which. Way to high from what I've been reading.
edit:
Here are my specs and temps with CPU-Z and HWMonitor
I use pea size amount. It is securely attached I think. Not sure how it wouldn't be though.
I'll check those programs out when I install Windows 7 on my SSD.
I went with a MSI Z77A-GD65 just because they have a facility in my city in case something happens. Picked up all my parts yesterday and built it myself for the first time. Took me over around 8 hours. I was watching some videos on how to build on youtube. Ran into problems installing my Hyper...
I just got my new i5-3570k. This will be my first time putting together my own computer from scratch.
I need some guidance on how to apply my thermal compound. I have the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus cooler. I'm going to use the thermal compound it came with. The instructions says to put the...
Just seems like every manufacturer got their problems. It's how they handle it is what is important to me. After reading this thread I think I'll avoid ASUS from now on.

The mushkin is actually more expensive after $10 shipping.
The Corsair Vengeance I can get for $42.49 after price beat at Memory Express.
The Gigabyte Z77X-D3H looks solid. How does it compare to the MSI-Z77A-GD65 for $157?
I'm trying to pick a board but I'm having a difficult time deciding. When I decided on the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H I came here and read some problems and heard that Gigabyte's customer service and warranty are horrible. Now I'm hearing that Asus have the worst RMA service however they are...
I got the PSU when it was on sale for $70 and - $30 rebate so that's why I got it.
I'll be playing at 1080p resolution. The parts I already have are listed above.
What you guys think about the MSI Z77A-GD65 for $160?
Just not sure which GPU to go with. I definitely want some the runs cool...
I was thinking of getting something with 8 sata ports.
I've already have two 2TB WD Green HD, one 7200rpm 1TB WD HD, and a Crucial M4. I'm planning to get two 3TB HD so that takes up the 6 sata ports already.
Thanks for the suggestions though.
I found these ram stick for a pretty good price...
I'm looking to get a Z77 board with the new IB i5-3570k. Probably will not overclock and if I do it will probably be up to 4.0 ghz. I don't need a dual GPU board but this PC will also be used as a NAS so I'll need lots of sata ports. I want a board that will switch to the HD4000 when I'm not...
alright thanks. Ivy Bridge it is then. Something unrelated, what GPU would be good that won't generate as much heat in my room for around $100-$150. I was thinking of getting the 6780 to run Diablo 3.
I want something that runs cooler. With summer coming I want to build a computer that generates the least amount of heat as possible without affecting the performance I need it for. Which would be the cooler CPU running at stock speeds or a slight overlock to 4.0 to 4.2 ghz?
The Asrock extreme 4 is a Z77 board. Forgot to mention that. It is $150Cad after a $40 MIR. Should I get that instead of the 2500ks/ asus z68 bundle for $370
