Just to update my experience with the Alpha 6035.
After my initial post I tried one more time to get a nice even and thin coating of the thermal compound supplied with the Alpha.
Idle temp was 41C - under load was 62C.
Not aceptable.
I ran down to Radio Shack and picked up some of there...
This is upsetting.
I just upgraded from a Coolmaster HS/Fan for my 1Gig Athlon to a Alpha 6035 from 3dfxcool.
With the Cool Master, I was getting around 32C idle and around 56C under load.
Just put in the Alpha and I am at 35C idle and a shocking 64C under load?

Hi all,
I will soon be swapping out my Coolmaster HS/Fan for an Alpha 6035.
The Coolmaster had a thermal pad and I know it will leave some on the processor when I take it off.
Whats the best (Safest) way to clean the processor core so I can aply new thermal compound and the Alpha?

Just rebooted and check the version.
Stupid me! I assumed that since this was a brand new board that it still had the old version.
Checking I see that I indeed have "UL".
I guess the flash program was doing what it was suposed to (some kind of message would be nice though).

Tried flashing my bios to the new UL version.
Went through alll the steps correctly.
After I hit "enter" to execute it, it just sits there at the flash screen and doesn't apear to be doing anything?
I let it sit for over an hour since I was afraid to reboot.

Just set up my new Athlon 1Gig. Everything was fine until I ran a HD benchmark.
As soon as it tested the Raid Drive (2 IBM 75GP 30 Gigs), it locks up tight.
If I turn off the Raid and use the drives as 2 seperates everything is fine.
I am using the Abit Bios...
