I think that Austin is overpriced for what it offers. I initially was gonna settle down there since that is what everyone from California is doing but now that I am in Houston I am glad that I ended up here instead.
in most of the country the prices are not crazy. If you avoid most of the large cities on the east and west coasts the prices are much more reasonable and less likely to go crazy. If you really want cheap just move to Detroit.
