I'd recommend a new motherboard for an 8 core CPU like the 3700X. The A320 motherboard doesn't even have any heatsinks on the VRMs which aren't that great to begin with. There are plenty of good B450 boards that would do the job.
Your board supports two M.2 at PCIe4.0 x4, and one M.2 at PCIe4.0 x2.
Just make sure your 660p is connected to the "M2C" labeled socket and you'll get full performance from all of them.
Weird. It went into the list fine last night so perhaps they had stock very temporarily. I haven't really been keeping track of stock in the US so I thought it was no issue.
The 5700XT rivals the 2070 and even the 2070 Super in many instances, which is quite a few notches above the 1660...
Yeah it's the same memory controller so I'd expect everything on the Matisse list to work.
That indicates which product line it's in. GTZR is the regular Trident Z RGB line. GTZN is Trident Z Neo.
The Neo line is the one that's "engineered/optimized for AMD" according to GSkill. Lower latency...
Last time something similar happened to me it was my main SSD dying. I guess you could try reinstalling windows again but if this is consistently happening on a fresh windows install I would assume it's hardware related.
Congrats! Going from 60Hz to a 144Hz gaming monitor is a huge difference, a revolution in smoothness and lower input lag. 144 to 240 is more of an evolution but still worthwhile in my opinion, just don't expect anywhere near as large a difference as going from a 60 regular monitor to a 144...
They says it supports a 280mm radiator in the front, so it has to be able to take two 140mm fans. Maybe they wrote it like that because it takes one additional 140 front fan in addition to the one that comes pre-installed. It's a bit weird.
I'd get the 5600X. It seems like the best value for gaming of the new chips released so far, and I don't see the point in going for a 3600 if you have 165Hz ambitions.
Don't get less than 2x8GB memory, you'll regret it. Preferably 3200-3600MHz.
This is a built-to-order PC right? It would be helpful if you provided a link to where you're buying from so we know which options are available, and tell us what your budget is.
At that price point I would recommend looking at Fractal Meshify S2, Define 7, Define 7 Compact. None of them have RGB and they all exist in non-window versions.
Personally I'd go for the Airflow out of those two, for the cooling alone. However if you're open to suggestions take a look at the Fractal Design Meshify C, it's $80 on newegg. It might not fit every 3080 variant but will fit some of them for sure.
You can't really know before you buy a board whether it will have the needed BIOS version. However, most B550 and X570 motherboards have a BIOS flash button that lets you flash BIOS with a naked board. Only the power cables need to be connected.
Of course you should check that the board has...
3600 CL18 and 3200 CL16 cost about the same so there's no good reason to choose the 3200. I prefer 3600 CL16 though. For Ryzen get 3600 MHz memory because it lets you run a higher Infinity Fabric clock while staying 1-1.
When the new Zen3 processors come out with possibly higher IF capabilities...
Ryzen has one x4 M.2 slot directly to the CPU, and the other M.2 are off the chipset like Damian said. Neither will affect the amount of CPU PCIe lanes going to your two main PCIe x16 slots. Your second M.2 slot has a max of PCIe 2.0 x4 bandwidth, and when in use it will disable your third PCIe...
I'm more excited for the ADATA pcie4.0 drives at this point. Why have Samsung stopped offering MLC? Why did they stop offering 2TB MLC drives? It seems like they're regressing in some areas which makes no sense considering how dominant they've been in the SSD space.
Looks like you're getting roughly half the MB/s you're expecting, so perhaps the motherboard ports are SATA2 not SATA3? As for why your boot takes 2 minutes, I have no explanation for that.
Seems very good value with 5 fans and TG side panel. Although I personally would have preferred a mesh front, I think it will cool quite well as the fans are numerous and look to have decent access to air. I'm sure GamersNexus will review it soon as it's quite an interesting case.
Haven't all the manufacturers been doing this for 10+ years? Although it's misleading marketing to call them phases, it's more important that the VRM can supply enough amperage and run cool. Buildzoid and some of the reviewers have encouraged board manufacturers to stop calling them phases but I...
B-die has supposedly been "out of production" for over a year now, yet new kits of B-die with higher clocks and tighter timings keep getting released. I think Samsung are still making the ICs. Perhaps they don't sell their own kits with it anymore, but if supply really were drying up I think we...
Why not? My (admittedly limited) understanding is that 3600 shouldn't be a problem using decent B-die. 3600 CL16 is very close to 3200 CL14 in terms of true latency, just a tiny bit looser, so maybe start there. I don't think many/any Ryzen 3000 CPUs have trouble with 1800 IF either.
B350 and X370 were mostly low quality boards, because board manufacturers were used to AMD being bargain bin for so many years. As Ryzen has been a great success they're making much higher quality boards with more thought put into them now, and so prices have increased too.
I don't really see...
Looks to have very good features for the price imo, including two M.2 slots even though one is not 3.0 x4 speed.
If the VRM is good too it looks like a winner.
One thing that really stands out to me is the case. It looks very outdated, like a case from 10 years ago. Requiring an optical drive bay really limits your options as most cases don't have them anymore. Is it strictly necessary or could you get by with a USB connected optical drive?
Some cases...
For regular high performance consumer use I'm partial to the Adata SX8200 Pro. It performs really well and is good value, but I'm sure there are other good choices that I'm less familiar with. Perhaps something from Sabrent.
