I'm going crazy, matte vs glossy screens?

Hi guys, I'm really going crazy, I want a laptop to read ebooks and also for VMs. I was about to get Dell Inspiron 1564, as I was reading I found out that the monitor is glossy. I didn't know the difference between matte and glossy, I thought laptop monitors are the same as Desktop LCDs...

I'm interested in Asus A52F, it's really amazing but I have read in the config the following size : 15.6" type : LED backlight Color Shine, Color-Shine (Glare-type),Asus Splendid Video Intelligent Technology what Glare-type means? I hope it doesn't glare :|

anti-glare filter, I didn't know that there is such a thing for LCD. I thought it's only for CRTs, thanks for help. I will look into it

my problem is with colors, the bright colors of the monitor is driving me nuts. I tried to play with it but it seems that I make colors look like bale :(
