I have one, and I can say that when you don't try to make it push too much power, it sounds great! This being said, it's really easy to make it clip, so don't try to drive anything too big with it.
Another nail in the coffin for AMD, it would seem. I wish they didn't have to bind themselves to GloFo, considering how they lag behind the competition in their flagship process node. :(
Just to let you know, divxdude, Core 2 Duos have gotten cheaper than dirt on eBay. IMO the best value is the Pentium E7300, which you can get for $20-30.

In my opinion, the HD 4000 is completely adequate for HTPC purposes. Unless there's some issue with it that I haven't heard about that would make them a poor fit for such an application.

This motherboard uses a 19V power supply that is connected to it at the back panel along with the other ports...
You got that bandwidth formula mostly right, except it's specifically bus width multiplied by effective memory clock (in megahertz) with the product of that divided by eight to convert the product to bytes from bits. The final figure is in megabytes per second.
I'd like to know why one wouldn't want to use proprietary software if you're not planning on modifying it yourself. I don't want to start a flamewar, but I never saw what all the fuss was about when it came to proprietary codecs, and drivers. Both of them are absolutely critical to my Linux...
In my opinion, it is. I guess it's not enough to be memorable, though.
BTW, has anyone heard from HAL? The last I saw him at **** was probably five months ago.
