Gaming Performance Woes in XP

Someone else said he solved the problem here by removing the jumper from his WD hard drive. I'm curious though, because if you're running the WD drive he has in Single mode, you shouldn't be using a jumper at all... Maybe you could check your jumper setting or try rearranging your drives...

Does implementing RAID 0 Require re-installation?

Not sure I understand your current setup. Is your current hard drive on the Promise controller? Once created, anytime you change an array you will lose all the information on the array. You could set up another array on the same controller though and have have each hard drive functioning...

CZroe is right. With incorrect jumper settings your WD drives will not be detected... at all. You must set your drives to Single and not Master (dual) Check out this page if have questions about WD jumper settings.

1st time build-stuck at the beginning

Sounds to me like you're turning on the power switch on the back of the power supply when you say "turning on the power". This does supply power to the motherboard, which will make the LED on the motherboard light up, but doesn't actually turn your system on. It's the same as "standby" mode on...

How do I disable "buffer underrun protection" in Nero?

I think you just baffled him Buz2b ;) And you're right, I've never heard of, or experienced, using "Burn-Proof" lowering the burn speed. Why would it? It doesn't even come into play unless your buffer runs empty. Then, all it does it stop the burn process until the buffer fills...

Yeah, you got screwed. Motherboard manufacturers can be pretty stupid sometimes. What you need to do is either boot to a DOS prompt using an old Win98 boot disk (if you have one) or any DOS boot disk with CD-ROM drivers on it. Then search your CD for the drivers and copy them to the floppy...
