Bad news all, went to Radio Shack last night, Wednesday. The price is valid however their warehouse is all out of the IPAQ?s. Too bad it was a sweet deal.

WinXP RC1 and KT7 issues..

I was able to load XP with the RAID enabled. I do have a third HD on the secondary IDE controller which needed to be disabled in order for WinXP to load on the RAID. You will also need to change your boot order in the BIOS, the ATA_RAID device need to be the first and second boot devices under...

More good news folks? I was finally able to run the extra hard drive, BTW it?s a Maxtor, on the Highpoint controller. This is the first time that I have been able to move information from the raided drive(s) to the stand-alone drive. The drivers seem stable so far so good. Lowen

Good news all? the new 103 BIOS/Drivers work as advertised. My sustained throughput is at about the same speed as before, 43000 with HDTach and 40335 with Sandra. I will keep everyone informed about the stability of the new combination. Lowen

Oh...well then you could do the same thing that I am doing, which is to run the UL bios with the 1.02 Highpoint built-in and run it wit the older 10062 driver. Lowen

Ogn, You can verify which mode you are in during boot. After the screen, which you can access, your bios the highpoint bios screen will come up. You access the bios by holding down the <Ctl> and <H> keys at the same time. One of the options is to check drive status; unfortunately I am at work...

The only problem with the older Highpoint drivers is that there is a known issue with them and certain Maxtor drives. Unfortunately I use a Maxtor drive for storing ghost image files from my systems. I?ve had to switch the Maxtor to the ATA66 channel on the mobo. The 1.02 drivers were supposed...

I also have a pair of IBM drives in raid 0; average Sandra drive benchmark is around 40300. You should defiantly not use the new highpoint drivers, when I installed them I saw a 50% reduction in speed. My block size is 64K; a smaller block size should only improve your drive usage not speed...

Question about my temps on Tbird 1GHz.

Well? the Tbird should handle temperatures up to 80-90C. Although at that temp I can?t imagine that your components would last too long. My 1Ghz Tbird?s temps range from 35-49 Celsius, depending on the load, with 3 case fans. Lowen

Your temps sound OK; about how long were you playing Quake? If it was about 45 minutes or better you high-end temp sounds all right as well. Lowen

Question on some bios settings

If you enable HostClk+PCIClk you should see about a 3 to 5 % increase in your performance. You may encounter some instability, if you do you may want to back off this setting. The KT7 memory bus is 200Mhz DDR, the only way to increase it is to over clock the FSB, which will increase you PCI bus...

Geforce 2 gts with abit kt7 raid, crappy performance

Download WCPUID and use it to verify that you have actually enabled AGP 4X. The new Nvidia drivers have an issue with this. Lowen
