Question Speculation: RDNA3 + CDNA2 Architectures Thread

I can't see that happening. The 7900XT is already not selling at 899$, they would have to drop it to at least 849$ to make it a viable option. The full N32 would have to be at <749$. It just seems too cut down to me that I don't see how it would be anywhere close to the 7900XT unless it clocks...

is fx 4100 worth it!!??

I don't really see the point of an FX-4100 or even 4170. I'd rather just get a Trinity APU for the same price even though the IGP would be disabled.

Maybe you should dust the fan off or take out the fan and replace the paste. I see no real reason to throw away your 4850 just for D3 because it is making your PC shutting down because of heat. I'm playing D3 on my 4870 stock at 1920x1200 maxed out so your 4850 should be similar as well. I dust...

I don't think that it is a fair review for Piledriver modules. They are comparing a desktop CPU with a laptop CPU. Trinity firstly include a GPU which eats a fair share of memory bandwidth and second I think its memory controller isn't running at the speeds of those on desktop CPUs to save power...

Llano's Turbo Core is far from useless. It is not the Turbo that existed in Thuban but the improved version similar to the one in BD. In purely single threaded apps, Llano is in turbo state more than 50% of the time.

If an i3 + GT540m barely consumes any more power then why would manufacturers bundle it with the bigger and heavier 90W adapter? I'm not saying that a dead silent laptop is an achievement, I'm just saying that a laptop with a discrete GPU is just overall more noisy and heavier.

AMD's response to the gtx670

The Diamond 7970 has a really nice boost. 100Mhz for core clocks and 300Mhz for memory clocks. The small memory boost should definitely help those ROPs.

If the CPU would turbo all the time when gaming, then that wouldn't be called turbo. 2.4Ghz seems a bit high, no doubt that you will be fine for now but I don't know about the long run. I'd put it at around 2Ghz just to be safe. With K10Stat, you can always set 2 profiles and manually switch...

I highly doubt that. I just ran SuperPi and when I disable turbo, it finishes in 46s while it can do 34s when turbo is enabled.

You don't need a monster GPU to max out Civilization. I still play that game on my 4870 512MB maxed out at 1920x1200. You need a good CPU however.

I doesn't seem to be a CPU problem. I'm pretty sure games like need for speed shift doesn't need more than 2 cores. Also the fact that your CPU isn't maxed out indicates that you shouldn't be in a CPU bottleneck situation either. Maybe you can borrow a stick of RAM from your friend and test...

We can't help you much more if you don't tell us the game that you are playing. If for example you play an old game and have Vsync on, no matter if you choose high or low settings, it will stay at around 60fps or whatever your monitor refresh rate is at. Dual channel memory might help a bit...

Is FX 6100 really that bad?

I would just grab an FX-6100 and overclock it to around 4Ghz or above. I doubt that anyone can notice the difference between a Thuban and a FX in gaming.

One possible reason for AMD being conservative on the clocks is that they might need a higher clocked version to fight on later if needed. Right now, they don't need much clocks to have the GPU crown, so the smart move would be leave yourself with some headroom for improvement.

Would going to a 2500k from X6-1100T be a sidegrade?

You can't really compare a cheap 2500k combo with a AM3 motherboard in terms of price because the combo most probably comes with a H67 budget motherboard while if he buys an AM3 motherboard, it will be a decent full size ATX. If you want to compare apples to apples, you need a 2500k + a good P67...

Unfortunately not. I have a 4870 512MB and it can do 60fps+ on 1920x1200 on Low and 40fps+ on medium. Using high brings it below 30fps and is just not playable on multiplayer.

Help controlling Phenom II X6 1090T voltage

For clocking settings, I go inside the BIOS. But for my fan control, I use software because it has more precise control. I also have to reapply those settings in software after each wake up.

Now that NDA is over, how do you really feel about bulldozer ?

I guess AMD's marketing is to blame here. They over hyped BD into a second Athlon 64 FX while it is clearly not the case. Perhaps if they just called it B-Series or something, everyone wouldn't have been so disappointed. I ask myself as well if AMD should just have spent all those resources...

Which CPU: AMD Fusion E-450 vs i3 ULV

Not to mention that the HP has a better build quality, better audio, probably better battery life and a faster hard drive... I'd go for the E-450 as the previous dm1z already won a lot of awards and HP seems to have improved it further.
